We were really excited to be given the opportunity to take part in the Travel Supermarket – Kids Capture the Colour competition. Ben was so thrilled with his camera and obsessively took photos of EVERYTHING.
I explained he needed to take photos of specific colours but mostly he was more interested in taking photos of the tv – anyone else think that’s just a bit strange?
Anyway I left him to it, letting him take photos of whatever he fancied and occasionally reminding him we had specific colours to capture. As you can see from this selection of photos Ben has taken pictures of things that interest him. At just 4 years old holding the camera still and getting focus is trickier than you might think so we’ve had lots of photos which are very blurred, have fingers blocking the lens (of course) or have part of the subject missing. It has definitely been a learning curve!
We took the camera with us to the supermarket one morning as I thought we’d probably be able to capture some photographs of fruit and veg to fit the brief. I was really impressed with this shot of some red chillis – especially as it was taken after Ben had only had the camera for a few days.
Ben took this picture on a recent autumnal adventure to Heaton Park. I love the splash of yellow leaves scattering the ground – a sign of the autumn colours to come.
Ben made this monster himself in the summer holidays and he has been sat in our living room window ever since. I love the way he looks like he is waving “Hello”
Green is by far Ben’s favourite colour and the easiest this to encourage him to take pictures of but this was his choice when I asked him which he thought was the best!
