Whilst Ben has never really been a fan of putting pen to paper, Chloe is pretty much the exact opposite and can often be found writing or drawing – I can’t tell you how often she gets cross with me for picking her up from her after school club too early because she’s in the middle of creating a masterpiece!
This summer, BIC® KIDS are running their third Young Artist Awards – a competition (open to all 5-11 year olds and running till 4th August 2019) which gives talented young artists the chance to have their drawings displayed on local billboards!
To enter, children aged 5-11 should draw a landscape piece on plain A4 paper using pencils, pens and / or crayons – they must not include any famous characters or logos. You then simply need to take a photo of your child’s masterpiece and upload it to the BIC® KIDS website (where you can also find information about how the artwork will be judged – colour and creativity are key!) The entries will be judged by an expert panel of creatives, to establish regional winners, before a public vote will determine the national champion! Thirteen finalists will be selected – each from a different region across the UK and Ireland and they will have their artwork displayed on local billboards with the national champion having their entry displayed nationwide.
Henri Nicolau, at BIC UK and Ireland, said:
“The BIC® KIDS Young Artist Award has been growing year-on-year and we can’t wait to see more incredible entries this year. We saw some outstanding quality last year, which proved an exciting challenge when it came to the judging stage.”
As well as the priceless opportunity to have their drawings published, the 13 deserving winners will receive a hamper full of BIC® KIDS goodies. Specifically designed to help children to hone their artistic talent, the hampers will include an array of exciting stationery products including the BIC® KIDS Evolution Ecolutions® Colouring Pencils and BIC® KIDS Kid Couleur Felt Tip Colouring Pens
What are you waiting for? Get those pencils sharpened, a few sheets of A4 paper out and let their imaginations run wild! This could be the perfect way to keep them out of the sun for an hour or two (or fill a rainy afternoon in the summer holidays heaven forbid!)
