This time last year I’d been at Slimming World for a couple of weeks and was already feeling the benefits (I lost 9lb in the first two weeks). I stuck to plan till the summer, losing almost 1.5 stone but I never seemed to get back into the swing of things after the summer holidays, eventually giving up completely in October. I just couldn’t get my head back in the game and my lack of focus was making me fed up. I’d stopped enjoying going to class. Anyone who has struggled with their weight will know, you really have to be in the right mindset or you’re just not going to get anywhere.
|July last year|
Since October I’ve managed to maintain my weight, give or take a few lbs and essentially I weight just a couple of lbs less than I did this time last year. This is not a comfortable weight. It is not a weight I want to be. It’s a weight which makes me feel self conscious having my photo taken and one which limits wardrobe choices. It’s not a weight I want to be.
I’ve tried using my Fitbit app to monitor my calorie intake but it hasn’t really helped – not because the app isn’t good but because it doesn’t make me eat any less. I guess that’s probably a bit harsh, it does make me more aware of how my calorie intake & expenditure but I haven’t lost any weight this way. In my heart I know that Slimming World is what works for me. After a discussion with Dave we decided that on Monday, once we had meal planned, shopped and prepared – I would get back on plan. I’m not going to class for now, though I know the success rate is far higher for attendees, mainly because I have other commitments which clash at the moment. I’m not ruling out going back when my schedule changes again though.
It would seem that the lovely people at Slimming World are mind readers and to celebrate Free Food February they sent us a hamper of fabulous free foods and a copy of the latest recipe book – what good timing! The book is full of appealing recipes and photographs and Dave was keen to make a start. The ingredients we had sent were to make Turkey Meatballs with Creole Sauce, which we’ve eaten and thoroughly enjoyed twice this week.

In the book it is served up with broccoli, Dave decided to cook up a bit of rice to go with it too which obviously stops the meal from being “SP” but does mean that it mops up a little of the wetness and makes it even more filling. We were both more than satisfied by our dinner and will definitely be cooking it again.
I’m not going to write massively regular updates about my weight loss with not going to class this time, but I will catch up with you on it at a later date and let you know how I’m getting on!
