Dressing for a Winter wedding is a tricky one – what are the rules? I wouldn’t dream of wearing black to a Summer wedding but can you wear it in Winter?
Shopping for a Winter wedding is also tricky as the shops are full or party wear which this year seemed to be velvet (urgh did that in the 90s thanks), sequins, black and proper old lady glamour. Not quite there yet I can tell you!
I searched some favourites Boden, Baujken, Monsoon, Marks and Spencer and came up with a few options but nothing seemed to quite hit the mark.
I remembered that Danni from It started with a Squish had worn a gorgeous dress from Ingenune London for the MADS – I knew I’d looked at the website before and seen some gorgeous patterns so I popped on over for a browse and stumbled upon this beauty: Lulu Classic Flower Green. I basically held my breath until it arrived but I knew the moment I put it on that it was a winner. Although the fabric wasn’t as heavy as I had expected it hung beautifully and was really flattering for my shape. My only complaint was that the ends of the sleeves should perhaps have been a little tighter.
The next challenge was finding shoes. I had decided I wanted a shoe boot so that my outfit didn’t look too twee / pretty. I needed to find something with a curved shape to flatter my legs rather than making them look stumpy, this was especially important with wearing a midi length dress. After a bit of searching I found a fabulous pair of black suede shoe boots from Marks and Spencer. The ruched detailing worked well with the dress and the heel was a comfortable height (especially for someone who rarely has call for a heel these days).
So this is what I wore . . . I apologise for the complete failure to get a decent full length photo! I completely forgot in all the excitement! If any other photos surface I will be sure to add them in!
