Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat – Review

Amy has been using the Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat for about a month now and I absolutely love it!!

I was just starting to think I needed to invest in something for Amy to be more upright in when I was offered the chance to review the Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat so it really couldn’t have come at a better time! At 20 weeks she was no longer happy sitting in her bouncy chair and tended to try and sit herself up in it.  We had tried to sit her up supported with cushions but she just seemed to slide down so I was very excited to try out the Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat.

Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor SeatIt is SO easy to put together – it takes no time at all. I actually timed myself and from getting it out of the box to Amy sitting in it was in fact less than 6 minutes!  The instructions come with clear diagrams but you really don’t need them.  It all goes together in a pretty obvious fashion and all the parts only fit together one way with a satisfying and reassuring “click” so you know it’s secure.  It’s pretty much idiot proof!

The first time I popped Amy in the chair she sat for quite a while looking around and watching the other two playing.  She was clearly thrilled to be more upright, Ben and Chloe loved it too – Ben particularly enjoyed interacting with her, chatting and showing her the toys.

I was immediately struck by how sturdy the seat appears – it won’t tip or be knocked over by over exuberant older siblings. Amy quickly put the washable seat covers to the test with a leaky nappy – they are so easy to remove, wash and refit.

Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat

With my older children I used a popular baby seat but found that they tended to slip around in it and both children were actually able to tip themselves out if it which was hardly ideal. There is no way Amy is getting herself out of the Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat – for a start the frame goes all the way round her so she can’t lean too far in one direction.  The fabric seat provides a sort of sling effect for her to sit in so she is comfortable and fully supported and can’t slip or wriggle about too much. Unlike some baby seats Amy’s legs are completely free to kick about as she pleased.

Amy really enjoys sitting in her seat – it allows her to sit upright and look around more independently, watching her big brother and sister play.  The toys are easily within her reach and are not too heavy for her to grasp easily and keep hold of.

The fact that the seat folds up to be relatively compact & is also quite light to carry means we’ve used it quite a bit to take to my parents’ house when we’ve been visiting to give Amy somewhere safe to sit.

I am sure that Amy will happily be using this seat up until she can sit unaided, and perhaps even after that as I know I will be able to put her in it and she will stay there!!  It’s great if I need to nip upstairs or do some jobs in the kitchen etc.

What we love

* It’s super easy to put together

* It folds reasonably flat for easy storage

* The seat is sturdy and won’t tip over

* The fabrics come off and wash easily

* Baby’s legs are free to wiggle around

* The toys are in easy reach

* The toys are light enough for baby to grab and hold

* The frame goes all the way round the seat so baby can’t lean too far and fall out

* The fabric seat creates a supportive sling effect

* It allows baby to sit independently

What we weren’t so keen on

*Nothing! At first I thought it was quite expensive at almost £40 but considering how much we are getting out of it and the level of quality (as you’d expect from Fisher Price) it’s fantastic.

Basically we love it and you will too!

The Fisher-Price Rainforest Sit-Me-Up Floor Seatis available at all the usual retailers (Amazon seems to be about the best price at the moment).

*We were given the Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat free of charge for the purposes of review but all thoughts and opinions are my own*

I haven't seen these before – We used a Bumbo with both babies but they're not the most comfortable or fun looking things really! This looks great, padded, fun and great for her to be more upright x

It really is great. I much prefer it to a Bumbo – aside from the fact I probably wouldn't feed her in it which the Bumbo was useful for x

We had the fisher price jumperoo and honestly, worth every single penny and then some. It's so nice for the little ones to be able to sit up on their own (and the big people get a bit done too!) Sounds great, mine were too squirmy for a Bumbo so I would have tried this if I had known about it! #TriedTested

That looks brilliant, and, as you say, for the amount of use you're getting out of it, £40 is a bargain.

I think the Fisher price stuff is brilliant for babies. They are really easy to put together, they think of the space saving element too, and they last.

  18. April 29, 2014 / 7:42 pm

This looks great – Toby was never comfortable in a Bumbo so we had a tricky inbetween stage before he could sit up on his own and this seat would have been really useful.
