Four super desirable hallways on instagram

We don’t really have a hallway at present and it’s something that sits right at the top of my wish list for our next house.  Our hall is basically a square at the bottom of the stairs, enough space for the front door to open and little else.  I was determined when we bought our house that the front door wouldn’t open straight into a room and that we had to have a proper hall but in reality it’s only the smallest step from that.  I would love a proper hallway with doors off it into other rooms – that might sound a bit silly but our hall opens into the dining room and you have to go through the dining room to get to anywhere else.  I’d love to be able to just shut the door on rooms and leave them rather than feeling like everywhere is a corridor – one of the downsides of a more open plan living space I guess.

So, with that in mind I thought I’d share some real lustworthy hallways from instagram:

1. Bright and spacious hall way

 2. Bold and colourful – just look at those floor tiles contrasting with the dark walls

Spent the day in Brighton with @sophierobinsoninteriors yesterday planning episodes for series 2 of the podcast. Yes @dfs has agreed to sponsor us again and there will be six more shows starting in January. So, when you have finished gazing at Sophie’s wonderful pink and blue hall of dreams, let me/us know what you would like to hear about. We are already talking about how to zone open plan spaces, conscious shopping and why white paint should be banned – wait to hear that one before you panic. Right. Ready? Go… Oh and while you think about it my Christmas gift guide to the bedroom and bathroom is on the blog now – direct link in profile. . . #hallwaygoals, #howtodecorate #interiorinspo #hallwaydesign #entrancehall #livingwithcolour #pinkandblue #pattern #encaustictiles #rogeroates #stairrunner #pinkstairdontcare #decorationideas #colourlover #fortheloveofcolour #interiordesign #planning #podcast

3. Just look at that staircase and all that glass – this is basically the dream for me.  And who knew you could buy ready made stairs online in UK?

4. Dark grey walls and staircase with contrasting white detailing – so much natural light makes this look like a really light and bright option

Angus is off work this week so his job is to get on with decorating the living room. It’s a bold colour choice but definitely not ready for the world of insta just yet so it is back to our hallway today for another very bold colour choice. So glad we took the plunge and went for this colour. . . This one’s a complete cheat as it’s nothing to do with hallways but I found it whilst I was digging around the ‘gram as exterior staircases go, this one’s a beaut.
