Celebrate 20 years of the Gruffalo with special 50p coins!

Advertorial for Change Checker How often do you get those special commemorative coins appear in your purse and then slip through your fingers again when you need to pay the school dinner money or grab a loaf of bread on the way home from work? I remember when I was a little girl my Grandad would always save shiny, new coins for us – not so much to collect them but just to save up and share between his four grandchildren for us to put into our savings accounts. From shiny coppers to the new sized 5p or 10p coins when they were first released into circulation (do you remember how big the old ones used to be?), he would put them all to one side and then divvy them up for us when we visited. I know if he were here now, he’d love all the special commemorative coins…
