#ReadyforChristmas with Halfords

One of the main Christmas presents I remember from my own childhood was a red bike – I’m not sure if this is because I’ve seen a photograph of myself and Nic stood outside the garage proudly displaying our new bikes or if I actually remember it.  If you’ve ever been for a walk on Christmas Day, you’ll know you are bound to be met by any number of children showing off shiny new wheels!  In this age of screens and tech, a new bike, scooter, skateboard or roller skates still features highly on many Christmas lists and make for the perfect presents for keeping the next generation active and out in the fresh air!

This festive season, Dave and I have been helping out Father Christmas by making a secret trip to Halfords to look at their range of bikes and scooters.  Ben has shot up recently and is definitely in need of a new bike, whereas the girls currently have bikes which suit their needs but are growing out of their scooters – Amy especially.

Halfords sell a wide range of bikes to suit your child’s age, size and skill – from balance bikes to BMXs, mountain bikes for off road explorers or skinny wheeled road bikes for racing – you will find something to suit!

Regular readers will know that Dave is a keen cyclist, completing the 70 mile GYBR each summer for quite a few years now.  Ben has shown an interest in having a go at doing the ride himself when he’s older and so we’ve been talking for quite a while about upgrading him to a proper road bike so that he can start training with his Dad.  The range of Wiggins Rouen Junior Road bikes tick the box perfectly – we have, of course, passed this information on to Father Christmas.

When you buy a bike or scooter from Halfords, they build it for free for you – which aside from saving you the hassle, means you know it has been done properly.  Nobody wants to be faffing about trying to build a bike from a box on Christmas morning do they!  Of course wrapping wheels isn’t easy but Halfords do sell special decorative bags especially for this purpose, you just wheel the bike into it – job done!  (It’s also worth knowing that Halfords can store your bike for you till Christmas, away from prying eyes!)

As well as building the bike for you, Halfords offer a Kids Cyclecare package – which offers, amongst other things, regular safety checks, puncture repairs and adjustments to the bike to ensure the perfect fit.  (A similar Scooter Plan is available too).  Dave is pretty handy when it comes to fixing punctures and making adjustments to his bike but I’m utterly useless so knowing I can whizz up to our local Halfords (where the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful) to get an issues sorted out quickly gives me real peace of mind.

I honestly think it might be a bit small for you @daveofadventure… Did you know that it you buy a bike from @halfords_uk, they will build it for you in store and make any necessary adjustments so that it fits properly? Of course if Father Christmas is bringing your bike, you will have to hope the elves have got the sizing spot on but if not you can pop up to Halfords and have them sort it for you! They also offer a Kids Cycle Care plan which means you can take your bike back for puncture repairs, adjustments and safety checks (which, if you’re a bit rubbish with this sort of thing like me, gives peace of mind!) Will there be any wheels under the Christmas tree at your house this year? ❤️🎅🏻 🚲 🎄 #YesHalfords #ReadyforChristmas #AD

  1. I used to love trying out bikes in Halfords as a kid for Christmas, we would always have to try a few so we never knew which one Santa would leave x

  2. That’s such a super service from Halfords! I’d love a new bike for Christmas this year, alas, we have no Halfords where I live, and no decent ‘new’ bike retailers either. I’ll have to make do with my old rusty one!
