Sofia the First Puzzle / DC Super Friends Dominoes – Review

We’ve been trying out some of the latest character offerings from Jumbo – a Sofia the First floor jigsaw and some DC Super Hero Dominoes.

Sofia the First Giant Foam Floor Puzzle

Chloe has never really been a massive fan of jigsaw puzzles so I was hoping that both the size and simlicity of the Sofia the First Giant Foam Floor Puzzle would appeal to her.  She was keen to give it a go and it didn’t take her too long to piece it together.  The nine-piece foam puzzle features Sofia the First in front of a beautiful castle.  The picture is appealing and the colours are bright and attractive.

What we love about it:

* The foam pieces make it easy to put together

* The large foam pieces are easy to handle

* The surface wipes clean easily so you can use it indoors or out

* Once fitted together the jigsaw is just shy of a metre square

* The sturdy foam allows for the jigsaw to be used as a play mat (it can actually be linked up with other Jumbo Giant Foam Floor Puzzles too!)

What we’re not so keen on:

* The lack of proper straight edges to the jigsaw can make it difficult to learn normal jigsaw skills

* Becuase all the pieces are the same shape any of them will fit together which means you need to pay close attention to the picture to see if it matches up

* The edges of the jigsaw pieces can easily be damaged if you’re a bit rough with them (as most small children are likely to be)

DC Super Friends Dominoes

As you know Ben is a massive fan of all things Super Hero so there was no question he was going to be excited by this one!  He and Chloe have a few dominoes games now both with pictures or numbers so are able to play the game independently which is always a bonus!

What we love about it:

* An obvious plus is that each domino features a DC Super Friends character

* The images rather than numbers make it easier for younger children to join in and learn the game

* The large dominoes are easy to handle

* The dominoes are sturdy and desiged to withstand being handled by youngsters

* They’re a great size for taking away with you

* With an RRP of £5.99 they’re a bargain!

What we’re not so keen on:

* Nothing, they’re a great little buy!

    Those DC Super Friends Dominoes look cool – but I'm guessing no female characters?
