The world through the eyes of a 4 year old!

So today we received our camera to take part in the Travel Supermarket – Kids Capture the Colour Competition – I hadn’t told Ben about it before the camera arrived so when the postman had been and I told him it was actually for him to use he looked like he might burst with excitement.  I set everything up and plugged it in so it could charge ready for Chloe’s sleep in the afternoon.

Once Little Miss was asleep I sat him down and explained that we had been sent the camera to take part in a competition and that it was for him to take photos with Mummy. I decided not to go into the colour themes for now and just concentrate on showing him how to use the camera.  He was keen to get started right away and once I’d shown him which button to press he was off!  It’s incredible how quickly he picked up how to take a picture, turn the camera on and off and find the images he had taken. Next job is to teach him to focus & perhaps choose his subjects carefully!!

I just had to share some of the things he felt he should take photos of today in his first foray into photography . . .

Yes that is indeed a lovely close up photo of dog poo. Nice one kid!   I’m not sure we’re going to win any prizes in this competition but Ben is certainly going to enjoy taking part!  Fingers crossed we’ll get out and take some good photos for the colour themes this weekend!  Don’t forget to check back and see our competition entry soon!

I had to! It made me laugh so much that he had felt it was worth taking a photo of!! I think I need to work on teaching him what makes a good photo next 😉

Good work Ben – maybe avoid photographs of the dog poo next time though.

Suggestion for a simple but effective possibly competition winning colour themed photograph……an cd with the sunlight or a lamp bouncing off it gives a nice rainbow effect ;o) x

I love the angles that kids seem to capture – totally unlike anything we tend to get!

I did the same last week with Bob, just took him out, taught him how to switch on and off, how to carry it properly, how to zoom in and out and we went and had lots of fun. Love the dog poo!! Now if you feed the dog red or blue food colouring for a week you may be onto a winner here
