So just 4 days into our summer holiday and we managed to stay in bed till 8am!! I couldn’t believe it when I woke up. I went into the children’s room as Chloe was starting to shout, Ben looked pretty sleepy but insisted he had been awake for a while and had just been a really good boy and not shouted – either way I really appreciated the lie in!
Over breakfast we chatted about our plans for the day including a trip to the park to meet Eve – Ben announced “I love Eve!” Â He told me that he was bigger than Eve so we talked about the fact that yes he is indeed older than Eve because his birthday is first; “Yes we take it in turns to have birthdays don’t we Mummy”
We toddled our way up to the park having a nose at the digger that was digging up the path on the other side of our road – Ben told me he thought the digger was “naughty” for breaking the path but we talked about the fact that actually it was only breaking it so they can put a new, smoother path down instead!
Ben had a great time playing at the park with Eve and Dan – encouraging Eve up to the top of the climbing frame and teaching her how to climb back down again (which was testing her Mummy’s nerves somewhat).

I had expected Chloe would sleep while we were out but not so – far more fun to play on the swings and crawl about the floor inspecting stones and pieces of bark!

When we got home we made the most of the sun and had our lunch outside – not least because it meant less mess to clean up afterwards! We couldn’t find Ben’s cap so he’s showcasing his new school hat and announced “Now I look like Mia “.

We spent a lot of the afternoon in the garden – with Ben on his slide or both of them climbing over me on the picnic blanket. Ben told me we were “relaxing” – I don’t know who taught him what that meant but I would say our understanding of “relaxing” differs somewhat! I asked Ben for a love before putting him down for his afternoon sleep and he told me he had “plenty left” as he had “got some more from the shop where I work called Tescos” ;o)
Neither child slept particularly well this afternoon (in fact Ben not at all) so it was an early night! (At bedtime I was told there was only just the one kiss left and he’d have to get some more tomorrow!)
