A busy week in the life of Ben!

This week has been a busy and successful one for the little man!

Tuesday we finally got the letter to say that Ben has got his place at St John’s for September – the relief was huge!  We’re thrilled that he got in – the idea of moving him to a new school, having to start all over again and loosing our wonderful childcare in Ange was all a bit stressful!  Anyway – it’s all fixed and the little man starts full time school in September in a school he is happy in and we know he will continue to thrive.

Today he has been for his swimming lesson. He has been having lessons since October and wearing three floats on each arm (these are not standard inflated arm bands but more discs made from “float” material).   At the end of his lesson last week they took him down to two floats and I was really proud. I had thought that it was just a challenge at the end of the session but when he went with Daddy tonight they started him with just the two. The reduced him to one and by the end of the lesson he had removed them completely!  Daddy said that he just jumped straight in with no hesitation, disappeared under the water for a good few seconds and came up laughing his little head off. I’m so proud of how much he’s progressing with his confidence in the water and his ability to swim in general!

And to top it all when I checked his book bag tonight he has moved up a level in his reading books – from Lilac which is just picture books with no words – he retells the story from the pictures (very well I might add)  but tonight he brought home a Pink book and a list of sight words!  He announced “I’ve got a book with words!” He was so chuffed with himself. The book is basically listing the character names that he will need to know when it comes to reading the other books but he did a great job!

My little boy is such a star!!
