A lifestyle photo shoot with Sally Langstaff

Last Updated on 15 April 2023 by Colette

The lovely Sally Langstaff Photograpy has been photographing our family since we first met back in 2011 when we were just a family of three.  She did a family shoot followed by a fabulous engagement shoot for us and then shot our wedding the following year.

Fast forward three years, we’re a family of five and it was definitely time we got Sally to take some more shots of us as a family.  Sally isn’t actually all that local to us but we managed to organise a date where she could do a number of shoots in Manchester all on the one day to make it worth her while.  I suggested we use Heaton Park as our location for the day as it’s somewhere our children love to visit and I knew it would provide some gorgeous backdrops for the shoot.

Now at the end of March we were rather hoping for beautiful spring sunshine and blossom.  In reality, what we actually got was rain. And lots of it.  I honestly don’t know how Sally managed to get the photos she did in between the raindrops.  We lost quite a lot of our shoot time trying to find the right spots to take pictures or waiting for the weather to improve which meant we missed out on a few shots I’d hoped for – pictures of Dave and I, of all the kids together or of Mich & I.  But the photos we did get are fabulous and I wanted to share a couple of my favourites with you now . . .

I’ve got a huge space on the living room wall which I’m planning on filling with a selection of photos from the shoot – I just need to get round to making a trip to IKEA for all the frames!  I will, of course, share the finished display with you once I’ve got it all done!

  3. These are gorgeous. I'm not a fan of ones done in a studio, even though my mother in law is begging me to have some, I'd much rather have ones like this xx

  8. This looks great and such gorgeous photos. I really need to get some family photos done of my family soon. Feel like I have lots of photos in the house of my son but hardly any of Harlow. She's only 8 months but would be nice to have an equal ish number!

  10. What a fab collection of photos and yes great to go back to a photographer you trust. Shame the rain limited the photoshoot opportunities. Are they on the wall now? #TriedTested

  11. I've been loving seeing these photographs across your social media for many months now you have a very beautiful family and as you know Heaton Park is a place that is very close to my heart. To get such a great selection of shots that capture your smiles so well must have been a difficult on such a rainy day but Sally has done a fantastic job!
