A little bit of love over breakfast!

It’s not often we all sit down to breakfast together – during the week I eat at the table with Ben and Chloe but Dave has long since left for work.  On a weekend we tend to take it in turns to lie in (though at the moment it’s generally my “turn” because Dave is lovely and forfeits his lie in for his preggo wife – he’s a good ‘un!).  This morning however my hips had other ideas, so I was up pretty quickly after Dave and the kids and we were able to sit at the table and eat breakfast together.

I love the chats that happen sat at the table, this morning Ben explained to us that when he was a dad he would have big socks and lots of brother and sisters (not sure why he felt his socks would have anything to do with his brothers and sisters but I can assure you he will have two not lots!!). He told me a little bit about his PE lesson yesterday which involved rolling basket balls while they were on their knees and we talked about the fact we were “going on an adventure” today.

In a moments silence Ben very thoughtfully turned to Dave and said “Dad, I love you” which of course made Dave smile and he replied, “That’s nice mate, I love you too”  Next it was my turn, “Mum, I love you”, and of course I replied “I love you too Ben, lots” and then he turned to his little sister and melted my heart “Chloe, I love you best of all” – it was all I could not to have a little hormonal cry.  He finished his little love fest with “I love you all, and I even love Thomas” at which point the conversation turned to a day we had spent pottery painting in York with Aunty Custard.

  1. Oh I love this! I about melt when my kids tell me they love me and it's definitely not as often now that they are teens and tweens. Sometimes they still even come over for a hug and that makes my day too!
