A special, suprise visitor this Christmas

On Christmas Eve my Aunty M received probably the best surprise birthday present she could wish for . . . My cousin, who has lived in Australia for the best part of a decade, had hatched a cunning plan with my Uncle and between them they managed to deliver her safely to my Aunty M’s front door on the afternoon of her birthday!  Needless to say she was suitably shocked and excited in equal measures.

Once she had calmed down a bit her first thought was to ring her sister, my Mum.  However that wasn’t quite what Louisa had planned.  She was keen to keep her visit a surprise for as many people as possible so a secret text was sent to my Dad to see what could be arranged.  In the end the only way Dad could get me to York the following weekend was to own up and tell us what was going on as I was meant to have a hospital appointment and therefore needed a pretty good reason for cancelling it!

Under Dad’s instruction I text my Mum to ask if it was ok if we joined them for Sunday lunch so we could see Aunty M.  Apparently Mum thought we fancied a free lunch and found this quite amusing!  (She obviously hadn’t factored in the cost of the fuel to York into that “free” meal!)

So Sunday morning we got up and piled into the car to make our way over to York – we had told Ben and Chloe that we were going to Granny’s and that Aunty M would be there so they were quite excited to see her, of course we hadn’t told them about Louisa being there as we wouldn’t have been able to trust them not to spoil the surprise!

When Aunty M & Uncle Mike arrived they had rather sneakily dropped Louisa off just down the road meaning that once we had finished saying Hello to everyone she was able to just wander through the door asking if there was room for one more.  You can imagine the reaction from my Mum!!

Having not seen Lousia since Dave and I got married almost three years ago there was plenty of catching up to do – Chloe was just a baby last time we had seen her and of course she hadn’t met Amy at all . . . making these some very special photos:

I don’t seem to have got any other photos which was a bit of a fail on my part I’m afraid!! Might have been too busy enjoying a fabulous Sunday lunch, with Louisa getting understandably excited by proper Yorkshire Puddings! (And who wouldn’t?!) and before we knew it the day was done and it was time to get three very tired children home to Manchester!  Tearful goodbyes were said, reminding me of the days when, as children, we used to get the train down to Dover to visit and how sad we’d all be when it was time to go home again.
I know Louisa likes to read my blog regularly as it is a piece of home for her and means she knows what’s going on with the little people she gets to see so rarely.  So Wizz . . . Here’s your post. You’re now on my blog! x

Yes definitely – even if I did feel a bit naughty telling the hospital there was a "family emergency" 😀
