Barbie Saddle N Ride Horse – Review

Barbie is a pretty staple toy for many young girls.  Chloe has one or two but is mostly still a little young for them.  This particularly Barbie Saddle N Ride Horse is aimed at children over 6 but that hasn’t stopped Chlo enjoying playing with it and acting out little horse tales. 

She was super excited to get her new toy out of the box and I’m pleased to say that this wasn’t a complicated affair, a few bits of elastic and some things to twist off and you’re done.  One Barbie and matching horse ready to play. 

What we love about it: 

* Barbie’s legs are shaped in such a way as to allow her to ride the horse and stay sat on it during play

* There’s minimal set up for this toy – it’s a perfectly lovely toy even without the batteries and Chloe loved playing with it straight out of the box 

* The grooming brush fits neatly onto Barbie’s hand allowing her to brush the tail of her horse

* Barbie’s left hand has a piece which fits neatly into her rosette allowing her to hold on and ride

* Once you’ve fitted the batteries, if you fit the hand into the horse’s mane and push the button on top, Barbie lifts herself up into her saddle and the horse starts walking all by itself!  (I know!!)

* Barbie is dressed entirely appropriately for riding with her boots and safety helmet – I love that not all of her clothes are removable, I get so fed up of naked dolls! 

* The doll and toy are both well made, Amy has managed to get hold of them both on more than one occasion and they’ve survived the ordeal!

What we’re not so keen on: 

* Although it’s a plus that Barbie’s legs are shaped to allow her to ride the horse, it does mean she looks a bit odd if you try to play with her alongside other Barbie toys.  She can’t stand by herself.

Over all Chloe loves the latest addition to her Barbie collection.  The Barbie Saddle n Ride Horse is currently available on Amazon at just shy of £30 which is a cracking price for Christmas!
