Last Friday I had the pleasure of being invited to Star of the Week assembly to see Chloe be chosen for the second time this year. Her teacher told the whole school about her natural writing talent, about how hard she works and how she is always pushing herself to try out new things in her writing (the current favourite being brackets!). Her teacher read out an extract of her writing in assembly, I cried. I’m so proud of this little girl of mine.
She has been the most amazing company this weekend – she suddenly seems to be very grown up both in the way she looks and the way she behaves. Don’t get me wrong, she’s still a right old drama queen when she wants to be but there’s a noticeable thread of maturity that has appeared recently ❤️❤️
And again today, just one week later, Amy has also been Star of the Week. Amy was chosen for being a fantastic role model, having a super learning mindset and trying her hardest to make sure her handwriting is as neat as possible.
As a bonus, Dave was off work today and was able to see Amy get her award in assembly. School send a text out the week before to allow us to make arrangements but we are asked to keep it a surprise so Amy didn’t know we were going to be there – in fact she didn’t even notice us when she came into the hall. She finally clocked us part way through her teacher telling everyone how fabulous she was, she grinned and waved excitedly causing the whole school to “awwww!” at her, she followed it up by hugging her Head Teacher’s leg before she went to sit down.
Seeing both girls recognised for their efforts at the end of the year was a real joy and I can’t wait to sit down and read their reports!
