I can hardly believe it is November – although the weather is keen to ensure I accept this fact with strong winds and heavy downpours! As ever the change of the clocks and the ensuing dark evenings feels brutal and I know I will find the coming months hard. Whilst I love the beauty of autumn and it’s crisp bright mornings – the grey soggy days where it never really seems to get light hit me hard! I’m definitely more of a spring person – I think I am powered by sunshine and am much happier when the skies are blue and the tulips are in the shops. With the sun on my face everything just feels easier!

I was about to say I don’t have much of a routine at the moment but that’s not strictly true – my routine has changed significantly with me not having been in school for the whole of the last half term (which I fully expected and leaned in to). I’ve spent a lot of time at home, probably more than I had hoped thanks to various things being cancelled due to covid (will we ever get used to this?). For the last couple of months I’ve found I’ve not really seen anyone I don’t live with – literally the school run has been my social life – and it has rather felt like I was back in some sort of lockdown. This doesn’t suit me at all. Much as I like to cosy up at home and do my own thing – I also really need time with people, people who get me and make me laugh.

Moving into November, I anticipate I will still be spending a lot of time at home – I am hoping to get back into a routine with supply teaching and do a couple of days a week, but I’ve also got lots of work to be getting on with at home. Supply teaching and my blog work usually sit really nicely alongside each other.
We’ve got quite a bit planned in socially as November is a busy month for birthdays in our family! Outside of that, I’m keen to make sure I get out and about in the fresh air as much as possible. On a weekend we’re pretty good at going out on adventures and family walks, but day to day it is all too easy to do the school run, come home and switch my laptop on, and then not move again till home time. I need to try and get into a routine with Poppy of heading out with her as soon as I’ve dropped the kids off at school I think – this is something I’ve avoided doing up till now as she still pulls a lot and I find walking her quite hard work as she aggravates my back issues.
I’m also keen to try and make sure I include more colour in my wardrobe like this new Adidas hoodie – I’ve said this time and time again, but I always find myself gravitating towards black – it’s just so easy isn’t it. But, taking the time to blow dry my hair, put a bit of make up on and add some colour to my outfit always makes me feel better!
