If it’s on the floor it can stay there – 33 / 34 week pregnancy update

So as the title of this post suggests I’ve definitely reached the stage of pregnancy I shall officially term as “If it’s on the floor it can stay there” – bending over to pick things up now invites a wave of heartburn, the potential for a sciatic spasm or just general discomfort from the squashing of my ever growing bump.  I’m lucky that Ben is pretty good at picking things up for me and Dave is understanding of coming home from work to find random things lying on the floor that I’ve just not even attempted to pick up again! I’m certainly not wearing shoes that need tying up and my poor toes had been polish free for well over  a month until Mich painted them for me today!

At 33+ weeks time is still zooming by, I had thought that once we got to 30 weeks it might start to slow down as it has tended to in the past but no the impending birth is looming large and is going to be upon us before we know it.  Am I organised?  In a word no. My section date is booked and my childcare arrangements have been made – beyond that erm, the less said the better.

Ben has now felt Beak move several times and likes to lie his head on my bump to watch tv.  He’s very careful when his climbing onto the sofa for a cuddle, unlike Chloe who is all elbows and knees and really appears to be oblivious of this big bump Mummy is carrying around!  I’m not sure whether she really doesn’t have a clue that there is a baby in there or just isn’t all that bothered!

I’m still managing to keep the SPD at bay to a point . . . up until this week I had only worked one day this term so I’ve been able to take things relatively easy though the nights have been increasingly difficult.  This week however I’ve done 4 days work and I can really feel the difference. I’m not too bad at work during the day bar the numb thighs if I stand for too long but by tea time I’m pretty much bound to the sofa and very sore / stiff.  I’m waking up in pain during the night and struggling to move, if I try to turn over without thinking about it my hips click really badly – we have invested in a memory foam topper which is helping a bit but I think it’s just something I’ve got to get through now – it will all be fine in the end and in the scheme of things it’s less than two months so I shall shush my moaning!

I’m looking forward to another growth scan next week as it’s always nice to have a cheeky peep at baby and see how things are developing!

Seeing a c-section was one of my best experiences in medical school! Not because of my interest in surgery, but because a beautiful BABY came out and everyone in the room was so happy!

That's got to be the best sort of surgery I guess 🙂 x

Beautiful Bump! And I don't blame you about not picking things up, I think I left a trail when I was that far gone!

You look great, but I remember that feeling, especially with spd, not much fun. Hopping over from #mmwbh
