I must admit that until now Lalaloopsy was most definitely not on our radar.  This Spring, however, sees the launch of a new Style ‘N’ Swap range allowing you to mix and match outfits for all your favourite Mini Lalaloopsys.  The range is completely interchangeable allowing your to style your dolls over and over again.

The Mini Lalaloopsy dolls are teeny tiny and although they are aimed at age 4 and up, I must admit that Chloe found them quite difficult to manipulate.  Ben on the other hand was much more able to deal with the fiddly little dolls and clothing – I think all that LEGO has come in handy!  This does mean that along with the potential for imaginative play there is also the benefit of developing fine motor skills.

Once you get the hang of it, the dolls are quite easy to dress – each outfit comes with splits that you sort of push the doll into – much simpler than zips, buttons or pulling things over heads.  I think this is a great design feature but as I mentioned earlier, Chloe did find this quite tricky as all the pieces are very fiddly, I think if the doll’s arms were sturdier it might have been easier to do.

Although Chloe isn’t really able to dress and undress the dolls by herself at the moment, she is perfectly capable of spending considerable amounts of time chattering away to herself and playing imaginary small world games and I know that she will become more confident with the outfit changes as she practises.

I can really see the appeal of having quite a collection of these dolls and all their little outfits – I know I’d have loved something like this as a child.  With so many options to mix and match the sets they make the perfect collectable.  I should point out that all the paraphernalia that comes with your Mini Lalaloopsy is the perfect size for getting lost down the sofa or disappearing up the vacuum cleaner – as is often the case with this kind of thing!  (Definitely a collection of toys to be kept away from any babies or toddlers in your household!)

  1. My Ellie was a la la loopsy fan when they first came out {quite a few years ago now} but her love for them as faded. But I can see Annabelle being a fan of these little collectables. They're cute! x
