Let’s start this post by saying that I LOVE SHOES! At the moment I find that shoes don’t always love me though so I often find myself wearing my Birkenstocks. Not ideal in this weather . . .
I’ve found recently that my feet seem to be quite wide – whether this is the result of a bit of spread after three pregnancies or through carrying a bit of extra weight – it can be a right pain to find shoes that fit. I don’t exactly have small feet either and being a size 8 can make finding a nice pair of shoes a little challenging.
At the moment Clarks are really hitting the spot for me with some many of their range being available in a choice of width fittings. Earlier this year I bought a pair of their beautiful Hamble Oak brogues which I adore and am always complimented on. When I was invited to review for Bells Shoes I was thrilled to notice that, amongst the wide range of brands they stock, not only do they stock Clarks shoes but they stock the width fittings too (I’ve noticed other websites who stock Clarks shoes often only have a Standard D fitting).
Another thing I really liked about the Bells Shoes website is that you can actually search by “Width choices” meaning if you’ve got wide feet like me you don’t suffer falling in love with a gorgeous pair of shoes only to discover they don’t come in a wider fit . . . can you tell this happens to me all the time. Being able to limit what the website shows me to just the wider fit shoes means I don’t even have to be taunted by pretty shoes for skinny feet. Bitter? Me? Not much.
Of course you can also search by the style of footwear – boots, heels, flats, slippers (yes I was tempted to order some slippers) or by brand. Bells Shoes stocks a range of well known brands to suit everyone from Clarks to Gabor or Birkenstock. I think I could find shoes to suit just about every circumstance on the Bells Shoes website – shoe shopping from the comfort of my sofa? Winner.
So you’re obviously dying to know what I ended up choosing . . .
As it is most decidedly Autumn now and my Birkenstocks are absolutely not remotely suitable footwear anymore *sob* I decided it was time to look for something more seasonally appropriate.
I’ve been lusting after Clarks Griffin Mabel for months now but unfortunately they didn’t have my size in stock (in fairness neither does anybody else – I think I’ve missed the boat on these beauties)
Keeping my feet warm, dry, comfortable and stylish this winter will be a pair of Clarks Orinoco Club boots – these are no dainty boots, especially not in a wide fit, and when I first put them on I thought perhaps they made my feet look a bit enormous (they don’y need much help on that front) but actually when I looked at them in the mirror rather than straight down I realised they were absolutely fine.
I’m excited to have a pair of boots that fit – boots that I can actually get on my feet and want to wear! They have been super comfortable from very first wear and I know they are going to be a wardrobe staple this Winter (especially as they look so good with my trusty leggings!)
*Disclaimer – I was sent these boots free of charge for the purpose of review however all thoughts and opinions remain my own. This post contains affiliate links*
