Even if you’re as disinterested in sport as me you couldn’t fail to have noticed what a massive weekend of sport we’ve just had – the World Cup, the British Grand Prix, Wimbledon, all of which were overshadowed by the Tour de France Grand Depart in my home county of Yorkshire! Â Being in Yorkshire for the weekend it rather felt that the whole world had become obsessed with cycling.
If you’ve caught the sport bug you’ll be pleased to know that it doesn’t end there.  This summer the Commonwealth Games comes to Glasgow!  With 17 sports being played over 14 venues there will certainly be plenty to watch.  I usually find myself watching the gymnastics in awe – how on earth do they do these things?!
If you fancy taking advantage of the Commonwealth Games being decidedly more “local” this year and making your way up to Glasgow to soak up the atmosphere then Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport will make for convenient place to stay with easy and regular transport links.
However if, like me, you’re less interested in the sport you might prefer to stay at Holiday Inn Edinburgh or Holiday Inn Edinburgh – City West. Â Edinburgh is still only around an hour away from Glasgow giving the best of both worlds – shopping and lovely coffee shops while avoiding sport but close enough for the Mr to go and get involved with watching the games!
