The end of our year with DryNites

As you know, for the last year we have been working with DryNites on their Confident Kids 24/7 campaign.  The aim of the campaign being to inspire confidence in both children and parents and to see them through the bedwetting phase with minimal stress.

I would love to end the year telling you that we no longer need DryNites, that both Ben and Chloe are now completely dry at night and we’ve moved on.  Unfortunately that’s not the case.  Realistically we are no closer to them being dry at night now than we were in January.  However, what I can say is that neither of them is bothered by this at the moment.  Putting on their DryNites pyjama pants is just a routine part of bedtime, nobody makes a fuss and they are both able to get themselves ready for bed independently. Wearing DryNites pyjama pants offers them discreet, age appropriate protection which allows them both to be able to go to the toilet as and when they need to – which they both do before and after going to sleep however as yet neither of them wakes during the night.

We have occasional conversations about the need to get rid of these DryNites pyjama pants and both children are pleased when they wake up to find they have had a “dry” night but more often than not the pyjama pants are wet and I’m relieved that we are able to rely on them to keep our nights unbroken and my children comfortable and confident.

Our plan in the new year, when the weather is warmer and more suited to drying bedding on the line, is to take the DryNites away and see what happens.  There’s no real pressure, we know that bedwetting is a normal phase to go through however I am aware that as Ben gets older he may start to be more worried about this and the time may come where we need to seek further help.  For now though I don’t want him to think it’s anything other than completely normal. I don’t want to knock his confidence by making an issue out of something unnecessarily.

To celebrate our year of confidence building with DryNites, the Confident Kids 24/7 team treated Ben and Chloe to a night at the pantomime – what better way to end our year than with some quality time together.
