As you know we are in the midst of pretty much doubling the size of our home with a large two storey extension. Work began back in June and things moved pretty quickly with the external walls and roof being pretty much completed by the end of July.
|I can’t wait for this to be finished!|
We are extremely lucky that my Dad is a builder and is project managing the build which makes everything considerable less stressful for us. Obviously, not having jobs in construction ourselves we don’t know a lot about building so it’s great to be able to to defer to an expert on the subject! Dad knows what needs to be done and he knows people who can do it, he knows how much it should cost and how long it should take!
Every now and again we get a list of jobs to do – like finding a reliable plumber (this turned out to be very hard), sourcing materials and equipment locally or deciding where we want to put plug sockets but mostly Dad is making the decisions – and I like it that way. I completely trust that a) he knows exactly what we need from our property b) he has a far better idea of what can be done and c) he knows how to get the best from the money we have to spend. Already I know the extension is going to be so much more than we had ever hoped.
It’s a very exciting time and after a bit of a lull while we waited for the plumber and electrician to be free to start work we’re moving forward again now. The tunnel is still very long but there is a light at the end of it!
