Ok I hold my hands up. I’m obsessive about taking photographs. There I said it. In reality anyone who knows me won’t be remotely surprised by that admission though!
In my late teens / early twenties I used to buy, and use, a disposable camera almost every weekend – every big night out required a new one! They were almost as cheap as film and it didn’t matter too much if I lost it or it got damaged. I’ve got some amazing photos (which I’m not going to share with you I’m afraid!) which I love looking back on and remembering the fun we had! I can’t actually remember when I got my first digital camera – but I know there’s a big chunk of my mid twenties lacking in photographs – I think I just couldn’t be bothered, perhaps I was having too much fun! I regret that now!
Since becoming a Mum my desire to capture every moment of my children’s lives is huge – they change so fast and I want to preserve it, remember it and relive it.
Our house is full of photographs. The dining room wall is a gallery of photos ranging from a really cute black and white seaside snap of my Grandparents, Mum and Aunty at the seaside to a Venture portrait of my family. There’s a collection of photos in Ben and Chloe’s room of all the most important people in their lives and wedding photos on the living room wall.
I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to review products for Truprint. I remember Mum using Truprint when I was a child – sticking films in the envelope and sending them off to be developed – obviously things have moved on a bit since those days! You upload your pictures to the website and use them to create all sorts of wonderful things from standard prints to mugs, calendars and photo books. I really enjoyed browsing the website – there’s just so much to choose from! I eventually decided on the placemats as they just seemed to be something really different, I’ve never seen anything like them before and I thought Ben and Chloe would really enjoy having mats with their own faces on!
It’s really easy to upload photos direct from your computer but Truprint also offer the option of uploading from Facebook! The one thing I found frustrating when I was choosing my photos was that there didn’t seem to be an option to move the photos around to centre them or resize them on the place mat which could leave to some dodgy crops on the finished product. This meant I couldn’t use some of the photos I had hoped unless I went to the hassle of cropping and re-uploading them – which I suppose wouldn’t take too long but it would have been much easier to have had the option to edit them slightly on the mats.

Oh my days was I thrilled when I received them! They far outweighed my expectations and are just gorgeous. Beautiful, glossy images on great quality cork backed place mats. Ben and Chloe were super excited and liked going through telling me who was in each picture. I love that we’ve got a variety of pictures so they can choose different ones to use. Everyone I’ve shown them to thinks they are incredible. They’d make such a fantastic gift be it for Christmas, birthdays or even a wedding (how cool would it be to make place mats from photos of the couple?)
*Disclaimer – I was given credit to create my own place mats and coasters for the purposes of review but all thoughts and opinions are my own*
