The countdown to the start of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 tournament is on, with the opening game being held at Old Trafford on 6th July and the final at Wembley Stadium on 31st July. This will be the second time England have hosted the competition.

In celebration of this, the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Roadshow is travelling the country (with 10 stops across 43 days). Currently based up at the Trafford Centre (just outside The Great Hall) and only half an hour from home, we decided to brave the heavy rain showers and head down this morning to see what was going on.

Although my children are not actually massive football fans on the whole, they were really keen to get involved and try out all the various activities. Considering one of the main points of the roadshow is to introduce new fans to the women’s game, I’d say this was a success!

Amy was pretty pleased with her result on the "show your skills" stand.

The Roadshow features a number of stands (luckily providing plenty of shelter from the frequent Mancunian downpours!) offering up a variety of immersive experiences from the chance to experience matchday presenting and interviewing in a special TV studio (a massive highlight for my three) to filming your own goal celebrations, adding your contribution to an enormous Mexican wave and having a go at making tricky decisions with the aid of VAR (something I was impressed that all three kids got right as I wouldn’t have had a clue!)

There was even the chance to get a photo taken with the actual #WEURO2022 trophy!

The atmosphere around the event was really lovely (despite the heavy and frequent showers!) with all the staff super keen to get the kids involved and enthusiastic about the activities!

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Roadshow is completely free to attend and there’s no charge to take part in any of the activities – which frankly I’m calling a massive win! Being able to just let the kids try out whatever they want without worrying about how much it’s going to cost you certainly makes life easier.
