Vertbaudet “Always Right Way Round Dress” – Review

Looking through the new season catalogue the first thing that
struck me was how much choice there was for Mums of “none-pink” girls! I know I’m
not the only one to studiously avoid pink on my little lady!  As I wrote here, it’s not that I like to dress her like a
little boy, I love girlie details of bows, frills and flowers – I just don’t
like pink!  Anyway gold star to
Vertbaudet for that one!

We were sent the Girl’s Always Right Way Round Dress which is part of the Vertbaudet range of clothes designed to make it easy for children to dress themselves – Front or back, it’s always on the right way round! This little cable knit dress can be worn either way round! In true independent little girl style Miss Chloe is keen on trying to dress herself at the moment though this normally involves wearing her jeans back to front or both legs in the same side of her pyjama bottoms so the idea of a “always right way round dress” strikes me as genius!

This gorgeous cable knit dress is lovely and chunky, but feels soft and smooth so there will be none of that itching that can sometimes go along with a chunky knit.  Chloe has no chance of being cold in this and it just looks so comfortable. (Ok I admit it, I want to wear it myself!)  The neck is wide enough to get on and off without issue and not feel too tight for her. The little bow details on the pockets are adorable.   I love the flexibility of it – it can be worn on its own or with contrasting long sleeves underneath for extra warmth as the temperature drops, it will look great with tights or leggings and I’m on the look out for a pair of boots for the little lady this Autumn which would also look fab with this dress. (I think this dress will last for quite a long time and just become a longer jumper as she grows which makes it even better value.)

The dress is available in four colours and we were sent the coral – its a lovely pretty girlie colour but and this is a huge but – it’s not pink! Hurrah!  (It looks pale pink on the website but is definitely coral in real life!) At £21 I think it’s great value for the amount of wear Chloe will get out of it.  In terms of sizing I checked the size charts on the website and ordered 3Y (which basically equates to an age 2-3)  I think the sizing is pretty true, Chloe generally wears 2-3 in most brands now, some are obviously more generous than others but I would say this is pretty average – it fits now but there’s room to grow which to me is ideal.

It’s a big thumbs up from me – and Chloe seems pretty impressed too!

Acessorised with wellies as ever!

How stinking adorable! Love that little cable knit dress and the expression on your darling daughter's face! And your stand on pink is refreshing.

It's funny, my daughter has 4 sons and when they were babies, they would have on totally all boy clothing in color and every other way, but it never failed that people would walk up and comment on such cute little baby girls! 🙂

I dread that time! I only hope I've instilled good taste in her lol. I imagine in reality there will be a massive pink backlash!

Gorgeous dress, I do love knit for A/W! I'm not a fan of pink either but E absolutely loves it so I have little choice in the matter! x

Very cute – I love Vertbaudet, such clever designs and really lovely. And like you, I don't want my daughter in pink every single day (which some brands seem to think you do)
