Where to get the best donuts in Manchester [2026]

Last Updated on 8 January 2026 by Colette

When it comes to seeking out the best donuts in Manchester, I’m afraid TripAdvisor doesn’t seem to be much help – yeah I know I could just head to Krispy Kreme in the Arndale Centre or up at Piccadilly, but actually what we’re talking about here donut-lovers is proper independent donut shops selling the prettiest, most instagramable artisan donuts – and obviously we want them to taste damn good too. Yes there’s a place for a good tangy raspberry jam when it comes to doughnuts but I also want meringue toppings, custardy fillings and big flavours!

Where to get the best donuts in Manchester

If you’re looking for the best doughnut shops in the city of Manchester and beyond, this list is the perfect place to start.

Gooey Bakery & Cafe, 103 High St, Manchester M4 1HQ

Gooey have grown hard and fast in recent years and now, as well as their glass case filled with donuts and gooey cookies at Ducie Street Warehouse, they have their own Gooey Cafe in the Northern Quarter as well as a bakery counter in Selfridges, Trafford Centre!

Gooey bake their awesome brioche donuts and some pretty delicious cakes and sandwiches on site – in fact you can see all the baking going on through the windows to their kitchen! Now I know we’re not here to talk about sandwiches but if you do get the chance to sit down and eat in Gooey, then they do a mean Reuben. My first experience of a Gooey doughnut was when I spotted a “Black Forest Donut Sandwich” offering on the menu – a fresh brioche donut filled with a chocolate creme pat, mascarpone cream and a sour cherry compote and finished with sugar crystals – you’d best believe I ordered that bad boy! Was it one of the best doughnuts I’ve ever had? Probably not. Would I eat it again? Yes, absolutely!

You’ll often find Gooey with really long queues but these are typically people waiting for a table – if you want a takeaway doughnut or one of the famous cookies, you can usually head straight to the counter to order those.

Siop Shop, Siop Shop, 53 Tib Street, Manchester M4 1LS

If you’re going to google the best place to go for donuts in Manchester, Siop Shop will come up time and time again – both on TripAdvisor and any other list of places recommending doughnuts in this city!

Open Monday to Friday from 9 – 5, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 – 4 – these guys are offering up hot coffee and delicious donuts as well as small batches of themed “dough drops” to collect and take home!

Siop Shop specialises in sourdough donuts made with natural ingredients and delicious fillings including peanut butter, Nutella and blueberry jam.

D G H N T, Mackie Mayor, Smithfield Market Hall, 1 Eagle St, Manchester M4 5BU

D G H N T is “one woman in her kitchen making artisan brioche doughnuts from scratch” – and wowsers is she making them well. I’ve literally never seen a prettier doughnut – these bad boys make me want to reach into my instagram and take them. All of them.

Never in my life have I had to eat a donut with a fork, over several sittings but the very weighty raspberry and pistachio brioche donut was absolutely oozing with pistachio cream and from the first bite I’d spilled it down my face! Chloe’s funfetti donut was slightly less of a monster but even still it took her a few goes to eat it!

Previously you could find D G H N T at the deli in Harvey Nichols but as of the end of March, D G H N T will have a new home in Mackie Mayor. You can order at the counter at Eagle St Coffee or on the AltEats App, to sit in or to takeaway. Special boxes of seasonal doughnuts are also available to pre-order.

Keep an eye on her instagram for more details of the current menu and where you can buy these utterly delightful and totally instagrammable doughnuts.

Glazed, no fixed abode!

Glazed serve two types of donuts: sourdough and brioche. Their donuts are made fresh to order daily.

Glazed work with local suppliers to source the freshest and most authentic ingredients for their filled and ring donuts. They make all their own fillings and toppings, including homemade jams and creams!

Orders are made direct via the website or you’ll find Glazed at markets around Manchester – keep an eye on their instagram for more details of the current specials and where you can buy these delicious treats!

You can find Glazed on instagram (though they don’t seem to update it very often!)

Doughfinity, 13, Bolton Road, Walkden, M28 3AX

Relatively new to the Manchester doughnut scene (if that’s even a thing?) is Doughfinity. Having made their name selling filled doughnuts at markets across Greater Manchester, they’ve now opened their very own bricks and mortar shop in Walkden.

Expect to find regulars like Nutella and white chocolate cream alongside Black Forest (always going to be my win), pistachio and Biscoff.

Doughfinity is open from 10am to 4.30pm (or until sell out) from Tuesday to Saturday and I’m most definitely planning in a visit!

Baby Mayhem, 23 Radium Street, Ancoats, M4 6AY

New to Manchester this spring, Baby Mayhem are bringing fresh doughnuts to their hatch in Anocats. Baked daily, you can have your doughnut filled with mascarpone cream or cheesecake and topped with a range of fillings like spaghetti ice cream (say what?), Dubai pistachio (obviously) or raspberry ripple if you want something a bit more traditional!

Chinnywala, Hamilton Road, Longsight, Manchester, M13 0PB

After not having updated their instagram since July 2022, Chinnywala have started posting again however their website appears to be dead so I can’t quite work out what’s going on – if you know what the deal is with Chinnywala please do let me know!

The Manchester Doughnut Company | No longer operating

I can’t find any recent information about the Manchester Doughnut Company so I can only assume they are no longer operating – if you know otherwise please do let me know!
