The Palace Theatre in Manchester is well served by public transport being in close proximity to the Manchester Oxford Road station (and when I say close proximity, it’s literally over the road), less than a fifteen minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station, within easy walking distance of the nearest tram stop – St Peter’s Square and accessible via major bus routes, however if you’re driving into Manchester and looking for somewhere to park near the Palace Theatre, then these are closest car parks to the Palace Theatre.
Here’s eight of the nearest car parks to the Palace Theatre in Manchester:
NCP Car Park Manchester Oxford Street, Oxford St, Manchester M1 5EJ
Just a two minute walk from the Palace Theatre is the Oxford Street NCP. This is a large multi story car park with 443 parking spaces including 9 disabled bays. The Manchester Oxford Street NCP is open 24 hours a day.
Parking at the Manchester Oxford Street car park is pre-bookable at a slightly discounted parking rate. Pay on the day prices for the Manchester Oxford Street NCP are from £3.95 for one hour up to £23.95 for over five hours – you are paying through the nose for convenience here! There is also the option to purchase a season ticket (offering unlimited parking at your chosen car park) which might prove to be good value if you are parking here regularly.
Chepstow Street Car Park, Chepstow St S, Manchester M1 5FW
Chepstow Street Car Park is a Manchester City Council run car park and is open 24 hours a day. The Chepstow Street Car Park is a three minute walk from the Palace Theatre.
This is a super small car park with maybe only space for about 14 cars, however that does mean it’s nice and quick to leave afterwards. Because it’s right next to the Oxford Street NCP, you’ve got an easy (but expensive) back up plan if it happens to be full.
Parking is paid for on arrival and you can pay by card only at the ticket machine for this car park or alternatively use the PayByPhone, Ringgo, APCOA connect app. Parking is charged at £5.50 for up to two hours and £8.50 for up to four hours. Parking in this car park is free for blue badge holders.
Q-Park Piazza, St James St, Manchester M1 4LX
Q-Park Piazza is a secure underground car park located in the centre of the Manchester Chinatown and less than a five minute walk from the Palace Theatre.
Open 24 hours a day, the Q-Park Piazza has 225 car parking spaces including 2 disabled spaces and 4 electric charging points for your electric vehicle (as far as I can see, these are the closest charging points to the Palace Theatre but if you know otherwise do let me know!).
Parking at the Q-Park Piazza car park is pre-bookable. Pay on the day prices for the Q-Park Piazza depend on your arrival time, with entry from 6pm being priced at £2.80 an hour. The maximum charge for any 24 hour period is £30. Payment is made by contactless as you enter and leave the car park so do have your bank card or phone to hand.
Manchester Palace NCP car park, Whitworth St, Manchester M1 6NE
Located on Whitworth Street West, this multi story car park is just a 4-minute walk from the Palace Theatre. The Manchester Palace NCP car park has a total of 411 parking spaces with 4 disabled bays and no electrical charging points.
I would say the Manchester Palace NCP is probably one of the most popular car parks for Manchester Palace Theatre – though thanks to tight parking spaces, it’s not my favourite!
Being a multi story car park in the middle of town and popular with theatre goers, you can get stuck in long queues as everyone tries to leave at once although they have now introduced technology which allows you to pay for your parking online after you’ve left which saves long queues waiting to pay.

Pay on the day prices for the Manchester Palace NCP are inline with the Oxford Street NCP and are charged from £3.95 for one hour up to £23.95 for over five hours! There is also the option to purchase a season ticket (offering unlimited parking at your chosen car park) which might prove to be good value if you are parking here regularly. I also seem to remember spotting a special deal for theatre goers on a poster in the toilets at The Palace once so worth keeping an eye out for that!
SIP car park, 55 New Wakefield St, Manchester M1 5NR
The SIP run car park on New Wakefield Street is a short walk from the Palace Theatre.
This is a 24 hour pay and display car park charged from £1.50 for one hour up to £12 for 24 hours making it one of the cheaper car parks near to the Palace Theatre. However, reviews suggest the entrance is quite narrow and that there have been incidences of cars being broken into of late so do make sure you stash your valuables!
York Street Car Park, Pritchard St, Manchester M1 7DE
York Street Car Park is a pay and display car park run by Euro Car Parks. It’s just over a five minute walk from the Palace Theatre and, whilst I wouldn’t say it would be my first choice of car park, reviews say that it’s spacious and staff are helpful. This car park is open between 6am and 2am
Parking is paid on arrival and can be paid for at the machine of via the ECPparkbuddy app – don’t forget to display you car park ticket to avoid unnecessary parking fines!
Chester Street NCP, Chester Street, Manchester, M1 5GE
The Chester Street NCP is less than a five minute walk from the Palace Theatre. This is a smaller multi story car park than the other two NCPs on the list with 220 parking spaces including 4 disabled bays. The Chester Street NCP is open 24 hours a day.
Parking at the Chester Street car park is pre-bookable. Pay on the day prices for the Chester Street NCP are from £3.45 for one hour up to £27.95 for over five hours – again not a cheap car park but this is Manchester city centre! There is also the option to purchase a season ticket (offering unlimited parking at your chosen car park) which might prove to be good value if you are parking here regularly.
Charles Street Multi-Storey Car Park, Charles St, Manchester M1 7AR
The Charles Street multi-storey car park is owned and managed by The University of Manchester and whilst it is open to the public, it’s worth noting that parking is limited and for special events such as open days or graduations it might be worth looking at public transport or alternative car parks. Of course for evening trips to the theatre, this probably doesn’t matter too much.
The Charles Street multi-storey car park is a little over a five minute walk from the Palace Theatre and is open from 6am daily, closing at 11.45pm Monday to Friday and 10.45pm on Saturday and Sunday. It is a big car park with 808 parking spaces including 4 disabled spaces (Blue Badge Holders can park free of charge).
Parking is payable by cash or card priced from £2 for two hours up to £15 for up to 24 hours. However, what makes this car park great for the Palace Theatre is that they offer a special evening rate of just £4.50 between 6pm and closure of the car park.
What about street parking near the Palace Theatre?
Street parking near the Palace Theatre isn’t really an option as the theatre is so centrally located in the heart of Manchester city centre so I hope this list will help you find the right car park and that you enjoy your visit to the Palace Theatre!
