A month of Mummy

Recently I rediscovered a post I wrote over a year ago about the importance of photographs and how so many of us mums tend to be behind the camera or just don’t want to be photographed as we don’t feel that we look great (really who would on minimal sleep, scraped back hair and ill fitting clothes . . . maybe that’s just me?!

I thought it would be nice to revisit this post . . . now it has to be said I’m still really bad at deleting photos of myself that I don’t like – but I am better at getting photos to be taken in the first place so here are all the photos of me & the kids that have been taken over the last couple of months:

15th April – Cannon Hall Farm
19th April – Piglets Adventure Park
5th May – Our own back garden
7th May – First foods at home
16th May – The Baby Show, Birmingham
19th May – On our way to collect Ben from school
3rd June –  Dyson Event at Trafford Centre
5th June – A school run selfie
Of course I could go through these photos criticising my bald bits, my lack of make up or the fact I seem to be wearing the same top in almost every photo (yes my wardrobe is that limited at the moment) but actually that’s not the point is it.  That’s not what Ben, Chloe and Amy are going to be looking at in thirty years time.  They’re going to just want to see that I was there, to remember how much their Mummy loves them.
To say that I’ve just shared two months worth of photos with you there’s still not a lot – and I’ve noticed there’s a lack of photos of me with Ben . . . and there’s certainly none of me with Dave.  The last time we managed to take a photo of the five of us was Christmas!!  MUST TRY HARDER!  Maybe I need to get the professionals in on this one!
I’d love to know how many photos are there of you with your own children over the last couple of months? Do you need to try harder?!

Aww this is a good idea. I rarely have photos with the kids – I think I look too fat, too frumpy, silly hair, etc etc. Really it doesn't matter does it, like you said, your kids are going to want to see you on the photos to remember how things were. I definitely need to start taking more photos with them. You look great, you take a lovely photo xxx

I only started taking photos with me in them at the start of the year when I started joining in with Dear Beautiful's Me & Mine and Me & You. I now have one family photo and one couple photo every month as a minimum. I try and take regular selfie type photos with the kids and Instagram them too 🙂 x

Ah this is a good idea. I love taking photos but rarely get in them unless its a selfie of course! Its great to make a point of taking photos together.

Thank you for joining in with the blogsRus linky.

I've been trying to do this as well. Last year I realised I wasn't in many photos, and so I have been taking selfies and even letting my husband take pics of me and the kids when I'm not looking my best. 🙂

I tend to hid too and realized that I don't have many pictures of my kids and I together. I have been trying to fix that.

All such beautiful pictures. Although I had to giggle at the fact you noticed wearing the same clothes. I can soooo relate to that! I sometimes look through my pictures and think "Oh my god" I am literally wearing the same outfit in each one! I do wash my clothes (honestly) lol but like you have such a limited wardrobe right now 🙁 still trying to continue my weight loss journey so buy very few clothes as poss x

It's a combination of being limited by my post natal tummy / breastfeeding / weight loss etc etc. I can't wait to be able to buy more clothes!

Lovely photos and a very valid point. I delete 90% of photos of me as soon as they are taken and the only pictures I have of me and my husband are on our wedding day. I must try harder and get in the pictures with the children x #blogsrus

It's so easy to just delete them without thinking "Oh I don't like that one" and it's gone – but all of a sudden there's no photos of you! I try SO hard not to delete pictures now but every now and again needs must haha x

Great idea. I've got so many picture of my little one on is own/with Daddy/with Aunties etc, but I have hardly any pictures with me in. I feel quite uncomfortable in my own skin sometimes so I'm not too keen on being in pictures. You look great in all the pictures! 🙂 xxx

There's a huge imbalance of photos here – I often take pictures of the children with Daddy, Grandparents and so forth but have to ask for the favour to be returned. That said my husband is much more aware of it now x

Some lovely photos there, ones that you will treasure because of the memories of the day and not care how you look (although you look fab in them all of course!) I am also terrible with photos of myself and am much more comfortable behind the camera. I have a few carefully angled selfies but very few of me with the children which is a shame.

You look so different with the bob – it really suits you though and I am tempted to go for the chop!]

Might see you in the pub again soon =)

Thanks 🙂 I do love my new hair. It's grown loads though so keeps being tied up again at the moment!
Sure I will see you soon! x

I love this post. Lovely photo's too! As a single mum it's pretty hard for me to get in shots but I'll have to start taking a few more selfies of us together me thinks ^_^

You're spot on about being on the other side of the camera – there aren't many photographs of me with the boys at all. My husband rarely takes photographs whereas I never stop. Must try harder!

It's exactly the same here – my camera is all but surgically attached 😉 x

Oh these are all gorgeous photos! I'm also guilty of not being in enough photos, am trying to rectify that, especially during this pregnancy

I love these photos! And to be honest, the only thing I noticed in all those photos was how happy you looked, so don't worry about the makeup or the dress or anything else. It doesn't matter when you think about the bigger picture 🙂
