A sunny day in Scarborough!

Last Updated on 7 September 2023 by Colette

When you wake up on holiday in Scarborough on the hottest day of the year – you can’t help but feel pretty chuffed with yourself!  Clear blue skies and temperatures in the high twenties are rare as hen’s teeth in this country so when they happen to coincide with you already being at the coast you make the most of it!

Being on holiday with five children under seven, there was no way we were getting a lie in so we were up and out shortly after 9am and set up on the beach by about 9.45am.  At this time the beach was fairly empty and you could have been forgiven for thinking that we were in fact in Spain or Greece.

It was in fact so flipping glorious that I stripped right down to my swimming costume.  Yes, I spent the day sat on the beach in the North of England, wearing my swimming costume.  This may be a once in a lifetime experience!  (You may be pleased to know I won’t be sharing any photographic evidence of this, though you might catch a glimpse in our first #SevenWeeksofSummer vlog)

I took so many photos during our day on the beach that I wanted to share just a few of my favourites with you.  (I may have also got a bit of sand in my new camera lens . . . sad times)

We spent five glorious hours on the beach digging, paddling, lounging, picnicking, ice cream eating and donkey riding.  And if that day was my summer, then it was a flipping good one!

  1. What a gorgeous time you had! I'm rather envious of all the beach fun – I think I was stuck inside working on the hottest day! xxx
