You might have seen that I had a BIC Kids giveaway running recently? Well this time it’s your turn! Who doesn’t love a good stationery haul to see in the new school year? I don’t think it matters if you’re studying yourself, have kids in school or are just working a good old 9-5 – September always signifies new beginnings and a fresh start. New shoes, new work clothes, new stationery?
The guys at BIC sent me a right old bundle of goodies and I was pretty excited to get my hands on them – even just to have them in my desk drawers looking all fresh and new . . . is that a bit sad?
Although most of my work is done on the laptop, it doesn’t mean I don’t still lust after pretty notebooks and good quality writing implements – my handwriting changes dramatically when I’ve got a nice pen to use and it just makes the whole experience of writing more pleasurable doesn’t it? Regardless of how much tech I use for my work – Google Keep or a shared Google Calendar on my phone, emails, social media, wordpress etc on my laptop . . . I still have to write my lists on paper. I need to be able to see them there in front of me and cross them out properly – deleting something on a list on a screen just isn’t half as satisfying is it?
As a teacher, marking is now about so much more than the classic red pen! Every school I go in has a slightly different marking policy requiring different colours for different things – it might be green for the good bits, red for the next steps, or purple for editing, pink for perfection – it gets pretty confusing but I always make sure I have a selection of pens to hand now! Between the BIC 4 Colour Pen (which even has a mechanical pencil in now!) and a pack of BIC Soft Feel Fun pens, I’m pretty much ready for anything!
Do you remember the excitement of graduating to using a pen at school? Of being told that your handwriting was now consistently good enough to be trusted with ink? Some thirty years later I often still prefer to write in pencil, I don’t know why.
