Dave has had a bit of a thing for boots for a while – he always seems to be picking them up when we’re out shopping but we’ve struggled to find the right pair. I think in part as he didn’t really know what he wanted to wear them with, he didn’t have a specific purpose in mind for them. He just knew he wanted some boots. Anyway, too smart, too casual, too boring, too expensive – nothing seemed to fit the bill. When I was offered the chance for him to try out a pair of Clarks Original Desert Boots I jumped at it, obviously! I’m not sure we’d ever have picked them up off the shelf if I’m honest but when they arrived and Dave tried them on I was really impressed – the look great on him! Far better on his foot than on the shelf if you see what I mean.

We spend a lot of our time in Clarks. When you’ve got three kids with perpetually growing feet it’s a regular trip out. Colette was adamant that all the kids first shoes came from Clarks. I’m pretty sure it’s a shared memory of everyone from their childhood, going into Clarks and having your feet measured before you got your school shoes. Nowadays they measure your feet with an iPad. Pretty fancy. I rather wish they’d measure mine!
More recently Colette has a had a real thing for some of their shoes. I can’t say I’ve been completely sold, but she knows what she wants. When she mentioned I could get some boots I wasn’t overly bothered. However a look on the website revealed some nice looking footwear. I chose from the selection of Clarks Original Desert Boots.

When the box arrived I had a quick look and the first thing that hit me was the smell. Leather. I love the smell of leather. Colette looked in from the kitchen to find me huffing my new boots! I looked like a horse with a posh feed bag! They smell fantastic. If you like leather. The second thing I noticed was how soft that leather is. Really soft. You know when you get new shoes and they rub for a while as you wear them in? That will not be happening with these. Wearing them feels like they’re already worn in. (They look slightly worn in too) The soles are very soft. So they’ll grip like Colette on a handbag in Selfridges! (“You’ve got to put it down now love. The security guards are beginning to circle!”) I think they may wear down quickly though, as that’s usually the trade off between grip and longevity.

Looks wise they’re smart without being overly dressy. You could easily wear them doing the weekly shop without looking over dressed then go straight to one of the many many children’s parties that dominate my weekends. (They’d be just as gorgeous on a night out should we ever have one!) I really like them. I’m off for a quick sniff now.

(It’s worth keeping an eye on www.voucherbin.co.uk for discounts on Clarks shoes too – every little helps right?)
*We were sent the boots free of charge for the purposes of review however all thought and opinions remain our own*
They look like great solid but smart boots and a really good colour too. He scrubs up alright doesn't he!? x
Not bad at all lol 😉 x
Going off to show daddy now! He's always moaning he can't find anything to go with blue jeans!
They look fab! Never really consider Clarks for adult shoes for some reason, but looks like it's worth a look!!! x
They look great! I love them and would love hubby to wear them too! Not sure he would though. They do womans ones too!
Haha, love the heel click photo. A pure moment of blogger inspiration. I'm pretty funny about boots myself, I've got one pair which I've had for 4 years but never seen another pair I really like. Give me my Cons or Vans any day haha 🙂
Dave is very similar to you – he loves his sneaks but every now and again they just don't cut the mustard do they x

I really like those and I am not a Clarks fan usually. Love the handbag grip reference too 🙂
Love that last photo! I love dessert boots on blokes but I doubt Clarkes do a size 15 that my husband would need!
We did the desert boots review too, my husband is a little obsessed with them. Pete already has these and I can tell you, they will last forever!

They look really smart with jeans which is a great thing for versatility.
