Clarks School Shoes – Our experience of buying school shoes

I’ve written before now that I find buying shoes for Chloe stressful – mainly because I refuse to buy pink shoes and for some reason shoe shops are obsessed with selling pink or purple shoes for toddlers . . . Ok, I’m going to get sidetracked into a rant here so I shall move swiftly on!!

Today we went to Clarks to look at school shoes!  I know it’s a bit early to be buying them yet but having had her Nursery visit this morning it felt like a treat to go shopping for school shoes (rather than the chore I know it would be in another few weeks time when I’d have all three children in the shoe shop at once! I don’t even want to think about that!)

Chloe was really excited to look the shoes and I was impressed at the range of school shoes on offer.  I was really surprised at how grown up they all were in terms of style.  I was expecting to find proper patent t bars like I’d have had when I was a little girl myself!  I was determined that Chloe should have patent shoes as I know from experience they will look the smartest for longest.

(Not sure her blue stripey socks really show off her shoes very well!)

The lovely girl who was serving us measured Chloe’s feet to be an 8.5F and brought out the shoes they had in her size.  Chlo really made us giggling prancing down the shop in her shoes, holding her dress out like a princess!  I foresee a long career in shoe shopping with this little lady!

  1. My kids love shoe shopping, but I always come away hot and cross lol, and a lot lighter in the purse department! I love patent shoes for my daughter, they last SO much longer.

    • I always remember being excited at the prospect of new shoes as a kid – and I remember how glad Mum was if one of us didn't actually need new shoes when we were measured 😉 x

  2. Those shoes are so cute! Buying school shoes seems like something so far in the future but I know I'll be doing it sooner than I realise! x

  3. My mum tells a story of how I would try various different styles of new shoes on only to then go back to the ones I had before in next size up. She even kept a pair and I found them in a box of baby clothes that she gave me for Blueberry.
