I don’t know about you, but at this time of year I am thinking ahead and planning how we will make the most of Dave’s leave and the school holidays. In all honesty we’re not always all that organised about Dave’s leave and tend to just book what we need when we need it but this year we’re being more careful to ensure we get the best value possible from his time off. We have a trip to France booked at the very start of the summer but would also like to fit in some more UK based breaks where possible.
I’ve recently written about Things to do in the Seaside Resort of Brighton and Outdoor Adventures in Norfolk – today it’s the turn of Devon, home of the Devonshire Cream Tea and my lovely friend Molly and if that’s not reason enough to plan a visit, here’s some suggestions of family friendly things to do in Devon:
Dave from The DADventurer suggests a trip to Babbacombe Model Village where you basically get to play tourist to six decades of British life whilst feeling like a giant!

Wafflemama suggests going crabbing which sounds like a lot of fun and would certainly be a new experience for my three. Check out her post for top tips and extra information on equipment or where to go.

Lucy from The Parent Game recommends the Devon Railway Centre and if it turns out that trains really are your think then Jane from Hodgepodge Days also mentioned popping into Woody Bay Station for steam trains and a sandwich or two.

We do love a good farm visit so Pennywell Farm looks right up our street with all your typical farm animals as well as a maze, pony rides and a soft play area complete with bouncy castle.

Victoria from Vevios recently had a fantastic trip to Sooty Land at Crealy Theme Park.
And of course what would be the point in visiting Devon without spending some time on the beach . . .

To make the most of a family trip to Devon, we would definitely look to book ourselves a self-catering property as base for exploring and relaxing again at the end of the day.

Crabbing is amazing!!! You must try it with the kids – they will love it! Best place for crabbing in the northwest is New Brighton and North Wales is Conway. Top tip for bait – raw bacon – the crabs can’t get enough of it!!!
I don’t know why we’ve never done it before! Definitely something to have a go at this summer!
