3. Get all my hair cut off
Saturday morning saw me setting off to Leeds for a LONG over due hair cut! Â The last time my hair was anything resembling short was about 5 years ago when I was expecting Ben. Â I never intended for it to grow so long, it just sort of got left due to lack of time, money, inspiration and so on. Â As our wedding approached I decided it was better for it to be longer to give me more choice of style and then planned to get it all cut off afterwards. Â Almost two years later and it was still ridiculously long and still growing. Â All I did was dry it, straighten it and tie it back. BORING. Â I am also struggling with pretty bad postnatal hair loss at the moment so was excited about the prospect of being able to disguise this a bit.
So . . . for my birthday Mum and Dad treated me to a restyle and here’s the results:

| A LOT of hair (and this isn’t even the longest it had got – my sister cut a good few inches off last Autumn) |

| Considerably less hair! |
Hair Donation: And the best bit is that as well as a completely new look (which is going to take a lot less washing and drying hurrah) I’ve been able to donate my 11.5 inch ponytail to Little Princess Trust – The Little Princess Trust provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Unsurprisingly Ben and Chloe weren’t too keen on my new look to start with. Â They were both a bit taken aback when I walked through the door, Ben told me I looked like one of my friends and he didn’t like it. Â I think its understandable that they’d be a bit unsettled by Mummy suddenly looking so different. Â In fairness it’s going to take me a bit of getting used to as well! Â Usually when I get my hair cut short the rule is that I must be able to tie it back – this time I said nothing of the sort so there’ll be no scraping it back for a while!
Another tick off the list:
- Take Ben and Chloe to pop their Roller Derby cherry and watch Aunty Custard play her first bout 01.01.14
- Launch my fabulous new blog design – totally excited about this! 06.03.14
- Get all my hair cut off (this has been a LONG time coming – 2 year or so in fact!)Â 22.03.14
- Celebrate my birthday (another one? Already?)
- Celebrate Dave’s birthday too!
- The lovely Lyndsey’s Hen Do!
- Finally meet up with a lovely friend of mine in REAL LIFE!
- Celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary – it’s cotton right? Babysitters booked! Whoop
- Easter – When you’ve got an Aunty Nic who works in the chocolate business Easter is good!
- Mothers’ Day (looks pointedly at Dave)
- Make the house A LOT bigger!
- Get outside more! This has been a very “inside” Winter!  We’ve made a start but this is season long effort!Â
- Wean Amy (Do I really have to do this?)
- Get some sort of focus on the whole “Wedding Weight” mission!
- Go to a farm and see some baby animals
- Attend my first blog conference!
- Take a trip to Whitby – time to introduce Daddy to Magpie fish and chips
- Make the most of being able to have fresh tulips in the house – Another one that’s been started but will be continued throughout the season!

It looks fab! Very brave and well worth it with the added bonus of your old hair doing some good too.
You look amazing! It really suits you and looks so healthy! x
Thank you! I feel so much better for it! X
Looks fab, I wish I had the confidence to do the same, but I worry about those *can't be bothered stick it in a ponytail* days which is most days for me!
Yes I must admit I'm nervous about those days but hopefully it will just force me to take more time for myself! There's always pins 😉
You look a lot younger with shorter hair – wonder if it would work for me, could do with a few years knocked off 😉
It was really dragging me down wasn't it!
Love the hair, it looks so sharp and swishy (in a much shorter way than it was :))
It is very swishy 🙂 It amazes me how many people have felt the need to touch it as well! x
It really suits you. I am going for a restyle next week, I too never get time to go to the hair dressers.
I'm hoping that now it's short it will force me to make more regular trips to the salon! Hope your restyle is a success! x
Wow! It looks awesome! Your hair is such a beautiful colour too. Well done :)x xx
Thank you 🙂 I don't normally like warmer colours as I don't think I tend to suit the reddy tones but I love this!
I've heard of people donating hair to charity but I've never known anyone to do it. Well done and I love your new cut!
I'm just so glad I was able to – I was sure they wouldn't want my coloured hair!
you look fab! well done for donating too
Your new hair cut is gorgeous! Your hair looks to be in lovely condition!
Thank you! It feels amazing now – SO much better for having cut off years and years of heat styled lengths!
Love the restyle Hun, you totally rock that bob and I am sure it is so much easier to manage. I also love that you donated your ponytail to the princess trust and ever since I showed this to my daughter (whose hair has gotten rather long) has said that she would like to donate her hair too. Kids are so cute aren't they!
Oh bless her cottons – that's so lovely 🙂 You should be really proud!
I can't tell you how much quicker and easier it is to wash!
What a great thing to do with your unwanted hair! Style suits you too! This is great and great photos. #sharefriday
Thanks lovely 😀 I'm so glad I finally got rid of it all!
Looking good. It's so scary having it all chopped off but it really suits you. Very sophis!
Love the new hair! I had mine cut last year from really long … didn't go as short as you though … 🙂
