It’s a long time since I’ve written any sort of regular birthday update but as Chloe was willing and able, we thought we’d give it a go together.
13 has been a lot – the pressure of choosing which subjects to study for GCSE, ever evolving friendship groups and just general Year 9 life has put Chloe (and us at times) through the ringer. But we’ve made it through in one piece and 14 is looking bright.

Things Chloe is loving as she turns 14
Sleep – this is nothing new, Chloe has always loved her sleep but “bed rotting” as she calls it is high on her list of favourite things to do and she’s definitely someone who needs to get her full quota of sleep in.
Pyjamas – Fitting in with the bed rot vibes, Chloe loves a good pair of pjs and will often just get into her jammies when she knows she doesn’t have to leave the house again.
A good Ceaser salad – I don’t even know where this one came from but she’ll often choose a Ceaser salad when we’re eating out, which is a far cry from Amy’s regular choice of chicken nuggets!
Olives – Because in Chloe’s words “I’m a big girl now!
Tracksuit bottoms – she’s recently picked up a lush pair of wide legged joggers from adidas and Dave and I both agreed they’re giving early 2k All Saints.

Low rise jeans – sticking with that early 2k vibes – and something I could never have worn – Chloe’s Stradivarius jeans could have been made for her, the fit is absolutely spot on and every time she wears them I have all the envy
Tiny tops and oversized hoodies – I feel like Chloe’s tops are either tight and cropped, or oversized – there is no inbetween. She’s a big fan of an adidas hoodie – she actually prefers the men’s ones for a really oversized boyfriend feel.
Vinted – Chlo loves a good browse of Vinted – especially for festival outfits. We recently picked up a cool one shoulder top for Dua Lipa and a faux fur jacket.
Dua Lipa – Chloe got Dua Lipa tickets for Christmas and we finally got to see her at Anfield last month
Good hair days – but not having to dry her hair! Chloe has a lot of very thick hair, which takes a lot of effort to dry and style and I totally feel her pain because mine was exactly the same as hers until I had kids. She will often ask me to blow dry it for her which I will usually do because I remember how hard it was!
A cheeky tan – I have no skills at all when it comes to fake tan but luckily Aunty Custard is an expert so Chloe loves an Aunty Custard tan when she can! (I’m still sticking hard to my “no fake tan for school rule though” – school holidays and special occasions thanks!)
Love Island – Chloe and I have been watching Love Island together this year. Dave and I used to watch Love Island a few years ago but haven’t really bothered in ages however this year Chloe has been watching it with me and we’re loving our nightly tv watching session together. I know there are lots of issues around Love Island but one of the things I’m appreciating it for right now is opening up conversations with Chlo around respectful behaviours and red flags!

Happy Birthday Chlo, we love you more than you could know
