Although Dave’s working arrangements have changed quite considerably over the last couple of years and he now works predominantly from home, he does still need to head into the office at least once a week. His overnight stays are considerably less frequent but still happen occasionally.
When I was offered the “Jasper Shoulder Bag” to review, Dave was thrilled – he said he needed a new laptop bag and loved the idea of smart brown leather bag to replace the tatty old black canvas bag he has been carrying for years.
The large Jasper shoulder bag is pitched as “more than just a laptop bag” and they’re not wrong. This bag isn’t your average, “carry your laptop to work” man bag – it’s actually massive (something we’d have realised if I’d actually looked at the dimensions properly on the website!) and more like a really smart overnight bag that happens to have a dedicated slot in a double-lined protective pocket to keep your laptop safe on your travels!
The large Jasper shoulder bag currently fits within even Ryanair’s stingy hand luggage sizes and you might just get away with it on the Easyjet measurements for cabin bags but these seem to be constantly changing so do check before you travel! (So says the woman who got caught out on her last trip and had to pay an additional 80 Euros at check in coming home from Paphos because her hand luggage was apparently not acceptable for the return flight!)
The bag arrives in it’s own dust bag and the minimally treated buffalo leather smells incredible. I’m hopeful that the stunning dark brown leather is going to soften and age beautifully over time. At £299, this bag is an investment but one which I think will last for many years to come.
The bag features two zippered and cotton-lined main compartments and a large zippered front pocket providing ample space for enough clothes for a few nights away – especially if you pack as efficiently as Dave does!
So Dave is still in the market for a smart new laptop bag, but his Jasper Shoulder Bag from Trendhim is the new overnight bag he never knew he needed!
