Looking forward to a summer of celebration

Much as the weather outside doesn’t seem to agree, the summer really is on it’s way!  This summer promises to be a big one for our family full of celebrations, sunshine and general quality time together.  I can’t wait!

Over the coming months we’ve got a big charity bike ride for Dave along with my dad and little sister, my dad will turn 60 and one of my best friends will be getting married – all before we take our first family holiday abroad in August!  There’s just so much to look forward to and plenty of champagne to be drunk (or perhaps gin in my case, the fizzy stuff doesn’t always agree with me!)

Dad will be celebrating his birthday over the course of a few weekends – well it would be rude not to wouldn’t it?  The first weekend (which is his actual birthday) we will be celebrating at my parents house with a BBQ (please let the sun shine!) so that Ben, Chloe and Amy can make a big fuss of Grandad and feel that they have been at his birthday party!   Although Dad is notoriously difficult to buy for, I decided on his birthday present a while back and I’m confident it will be a big hit.  Obviously I’m not going to tell you what it is now as Dad does read my blog occasionally (Hi Daddy!!) however I have told him if he doesn’t use it enough I’m going to take it home and have it for myself.

I’m super excited about one of my best friends and oldest friends getting married at the end of July.  The wedding takes place over the course of two days – double outfit trauma!!  Although Ben, Chloe and Amy were invited to the wedding we decided that, much like our own wedding, we will take them to the ceremony so they can see Uncle Will & Lucy get married but then they will go home before the wedding breakfast – this is the best of both worlds as it means they get to be part of the day and say hello to everyone but then Dave and I can concentrate on celebrating without worrying about our little ones.

After the wedding we’ve got less than a week to recover but we pack up and head to France for a week or so but that’s another post entirely!

Have you got any big celebrations coming up this summer?
