My First Home

*This post is Ben’s entry into the Keepomat “My First Home” blogger competition*

As a child I lived in a quite a few houses generally moving house each time my Dad was promoted.  By the time I was 12 I’d had seven different homes so I’ve got lots of half memories of different rooms and what the houses looked like.

When Dave and I bought our first home together I remember being really excited at the prospect of living in the same property for long enough to only have to write one address on a form!  We’ll we’ve smashed that target and this summer will have been living in our house for 7 years.

I love the idea of the “My First Home” campaign with leading house builder, Keepmoat.  We were asked to create a video tour of our home in order to preserve memories of our children’s first home.  Our house has seen a lot of changes over the last year and I anticipate that these will form some of Ben and Chloe’s first memories of their house.  Doing a video tour of our house in its current state will be really interesting for them to look back on in the future I’m sure.

I explained to Ben that he was going to be like a tv presenter and had to show people around the house telling them about each room!  At first I left him in control of the camera and listened to him walking from room to room chatting, smiling to myself at how grown up he sounded.  I particularly loved when he’d finished filming in one room and heard him say “Moving on!”  I foresee a job in television for this boy.  Anyway when I watched the footage back I realised his camera skills left something to be desired so we decided to reshoot a bit of a team effort.
So, this is our house through Ben’s eyes and in his words . . .

  1. wow Ben is a natural! You certainly are doing some renovating at the moment. Can't wait to see it when its all done.

    • He's been dying to do it all week – I told him ages ago that I needed him to be a TV presenter for me so he must have been planning his lines 🙂
