Looking forward to our Summer holiday!

The longest and most miserable month of the year is over and we have survived.  January is done and dusted. The days are slowly but surely getting longer and spring is on the way.  Ok that might be a bit optimistic but I’m certainly starting to look forward to what the rest of the year has to hold!

This year we’re going to be taking our first proper family holiday abroad and we’re so excited!  Dave and I have only had a couple of holidays abroad in all the years we’ve been together and we’ve not had a “proper” holiday at all with the children.  We’re not in the habit of going on holiday every year, there’s always been a house to be bought, a baby due, a wedding to pay for, an extension to be built.  We didn’t even go on honeymoon so this year’s holiday is long over due and very exciting!

We’ve actually had very little to do with researching and booking this year’s holiday if I’m honest.  Once we’d decided as a family that we were going to go to France Dad did all the leg work looking at the pro and cons of the different locations and searching for cheap holiday deals and child friendly accommodation to suit us all.  In fact I’m still not actually 100% of where we’re even going, I just know the dates for now!

Much as I know I shouldn’t be wishing our lives away, I’m already counting down the days till we go and mentally writing lists of things I need to do and stuff to consider.  Having never been away for more than a few nights “staycation” with the kids this is a new one for us.  There’s passports to order, holiday wardrobes to consider, long car journeys to cater for . . .

I’m excited to start making plans for things to do and places to visit though I rather think the list will mainly include swimming, the beach, pate, cheese, wine and cycling (for some of us anyway!)

Have you booked a Summer holiday yet this year?

I can't wait to hear about your holiday! We were going to go abroad but have decided to stay in the UK again – we just can't justify the expense of going abroad at the moment with extension plans in the pipeline x

I love how laid back you are about your holiday planning, it is the best way to be. Hope you have a lovely time x

I don't think I would be so laid back if I was having to worry about it myself! I trust my Dad's judgement though, he has far more experience of booking holidays than I do!
