We’ve been using My Nametags for about three years now – from labelling up school uniform and coats, to drinks bottles and reading bags or even precious cuddly toys. We use personalised labels from My Nametags on pretty much everything. The labels survive the dishwasher and washing machine time after time – usually I can get through a full school year without having to relabel more than the occasional t shirt! And they are so much quicker and easier to apply than the more traditional sew or iron-on labels. I can get a whole new set of school uniform labelled up in a matter of minutes which means when we do end up buying new bits and bobs through the school year, I can just grab the labels out, stick one on and send them out the door. No bother.
I’ve always loved that the labels can be fully personalised with different colours, background patterns, fonts or icons meaning that even if your child can’t recognise their own name yet, there’s a fair chance they will be able to recognise their own labels! Ben, Chloe and Amy love sitting down to help me design their labels whenever we need to do a restock!
More recently I’ve come to realise that as well as labelling up everything the kids own, I could actually benefit from labelling some of my own things. In the last 12 months I’ve manged to lose a coat and one of my favourite scarves. Because I teach on supply and am often working in different schools and different classrooms within those schools, I think I’ve probably left them behind at some point and not realised until it was too late to be able to retrace my steps. I did manage to leave a Kleen Kanteen behind at work too but luckily it’s a school I’m in fairly regularly so they had been able to just put it to onside for me ahead of my next visit!
So you can see why this time round I ordered some My Nametags labels with my surname and mobile number on – now if I leave my hat, scarf, coat or flask behind at work (or anywhere else for that matter) it has a far better chance of making it’s way back to me.
I had always thought putting your mobile number on personalised name labels was a bit of an overkill – and I guess perhaps for school uniform it is but when you’re looking at coats, precious teddy bears or other things which travel further than to school and back, there’s more chance of them being lost somewhere where a name just isn’t enough information to get it back to you. Popping your phone number on there gives your lost property a helping hand on it’s journey home!
