This is the fifth in a series of posts about our weekend in Swansea Bay in February.
Having spent much of Saturday outside up at Gower Heritage Centre or exploring Mumbles, it was something of a relief to know we were going to spending a bit of time indoors during our visit to National Waterfront Museum.  We were looking forward to warming up!
National Waterfront Museum – Swansea Bay
Ben and Chloe had never been to a museum before and I wasn’t really sure what to expect myself having been told it was Swansea’s most “high tech” museum – I guess high tech and museum aren’t words you normally expect to go together!
We arrived at the museum shortly after a special half term Science demonstration had begun so we joined the crowd of children and parents learning all sorts about bubbles and balloons – Ben was absolutely enthralled. Becky from Science Made Simple made the Science really interesting and accessible. Ben absorbed a lot of information which he has regurgitated every now and again since then! I think he might have his Dad’s thirst for scientific knowledge!
Once the demonstration was complete we went for a walk around the Museum. Ben and Chloe were interested in looking at the different things but not really paying attention if you see what I mean. The history and information just went over their heads and if I’m honest I remember being a bit like that myself in museums as a kid – just wanting to see the next thing, not stand and read stuff!
The National Waterfront Museum really is a beautiful modern building with so much going on, I would really have liked to have been able to take the time to appreciate it more however with three tired children (and two tired parents) we only really skimmed the surface of what it had to offer.
