Getting a healthy balanced diet is hard enough as an adult when we all know what we should be eating but don’t always find it so easy to make the right choices. Hello Diet Coke for breakfast – I’ve been there more than once! Making sure the kids get a healthy, balanced diet can be even trickier – Amy would basically live on Nutella if we let her!
Although there really is no substitute for ‘eating the rainbow’ or getting the right balance of fats, carbs and protein – sometimes we just need a little bit of help don’t we? A safety net so to speak.

NUTRILITE™ Kids Omega-3 fruit flavoured soft chews by Amway
With this in mind, my little gang have been trying out NUTRILITE™ Kids Omega-3 fruit flavoured soft chews by Amway. These supplements, for children aged 4yrs and up, contain vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids, and have been developed to support the healthy growth of children’s bones.
It’s super important that omega-3 fatty acids like DHA* feature in a child’s healthy diet as the body isn’t able to produce sufficient of these good fats. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid which contributes to maintenance of normal brain function.

Fish isn’t my kids’ favourite food!
Remember we were always told that fish was brain food? Well this is why. Fish, as well as seafood, are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids but fish is rarely going to be a child’s first choice for tea (nor mine if I’m honest!). As our children are getting a bit older, they are branching out from the fail safe fish fingers and will happily eat a tuna pasta bake or even a salmon fillet! (I know, get them!) However, the NHS recommends we eat two portions of fish a week – one of which should be an oily fish such as salmon or sardines – and I am telling you now, that definitely doesn’t happen in our house. For a start, salmon isn’t exactly a cheap tea when there’s five of you!
This is where a fish oil supplement comes into its own
Now as a child, my Grandad used to give me Cod Liver Oil – in a capsule if I was lucky, on a spoon if I wasn’t! Anyone who has ever taken a fish oil supplement will know that they generally don’t taste great. Amway’s Nutrilite Kids Omega 3 supplement is a fruity soft chew which disguises any fishy taste or after-taste.
Don’t get me wrong, they are a bit of an acquired taste but definitely better than neat fish oil! The jelly texture is easy to chew and they don’t need to be taken with water – making them much easier than the capsules my Grandad gave me when I was younger!

And what about sustainability?
We all know that sustainability is an important factor in our fish consumption – and that whilst we should be eating two portions of fish a week, we need to be really careful about where this comes from.
Amway’s Nutrilite Kids Omega-3 supplement contains sustainable fish oil and is certified by “Friends of the Sea” (Friends of the Sea protects the oceans by means of conservation initiatives and by certification of sustainable products and services).
Where can I buy Nutrilite Kids Omega-3
Amway Nutrilite Kids Omega-3 is currently available to order direct from Amway.
What a totally adorable swing photo ❤️
My 15 year old has been asking me about supplements (now he’s into “fitness”) so I’m off to explore their teenage options
Ah great idea! That’s fab that he’s found something to focus on – I was terrible with exercise in my teens (still am) so am hoping to encourage my children to be far more active!
Luckily N loves fish (it’s me who dislikes it). I remember being given cod liver oil capsules too. Bleurgh. These are a great idea for kids who don’t get what’s needed from fish in their diet.
I’m definitely getting much better with fish as I get older – but I still wouldn’t choose it in a restaurant 😉
I personally love fish, my kids are not so keen, despite trying it various times. These would be perfect for them! 🙂
My kids like fish thankfully. These are a great idea though
Some of my kids like fish and some don’t, but it is certainly something I need to look into getting these. Gone are the days of my parents getting me to take cod liver oil liquid. I still get flashbacks. This is much easier xx
