Our Family – January 2021

Whilst January is typically a tough month – a long, dark, cold and skint month – this year has been a special kind of tough. Of course we don’t normally get out and about much in January thanks to needing to chill out after festive celebrations and Christmas spending, but being in lockdown through January has definitely made life harder. With a return to school closures, a ban on socialising or travelling and everything being closed – there has been little more to do than hunker down and hibernate.

We’ve tried to get out for a decent walk or two each weekend but the weather has put paid to that a few times. There’s been lots of baking (the kids are taking it in turns to bake with Dave each weekend) and a whole world of screen-time. Mostly we’ve coped pretty well with living in each other’s pockets – let’s face it, we’re more than used to it after this last year! But we’re all desperate to be able to travel more freely (and by travel I mean just leave our local area) and spend time with our family and friends. Of course February is unlikely to offer up any of those things as we face another month of lockdown with a half term in the middle! (A half term which will bring a welcome break from home school but which might be tricky in terms of keeping everyone occupied!)
