We were converted to shopping in our local Morrisons almost two years ago now. We found our weekly shop was cheaper, the shopping environment was pleasant (having had a refit) and the food was great quality.
We were really excited to be chosen to take part in the recent BritMums #MorrisonsMum challenge and decided to make the most of the bank holiday weekend to have a picnic and a BBQ.
I took myself off to Morrisons last Friday night which was a treat in itself, just going to the supermarket with no children is a bit of a luxury these days! It was clear from the stock levels that plenty of other people were planning a weekend of BBQs and so forth however although some of the shelves were looking a bit bare I was able to get everything that was on my list.
Morrisons have cut the prices on thousands of popular products – this isn’t just messing about with temporary reductions to lure you in, these are new every day low prices on the things you will buy every week so in theory you’ll really notice a difference on your weekly shop. This is not to say that Morrisons are going to lose their focus on quality produce either so you get the best of both worlds.

All the way round the store you’ll spot the yellow signs telling you which products have been reduced in price and by how much – basics like eggs, bread and cereal but then treats and branded products like Diet Coke.

Saturday afternoon we had a picnic at Aunty Custard’s house but the bulk of the shopping was for a BBQ on Bank Holiday Monday.
Our BBQ menu consisted of:
* Jamie Oliver burgers (These are AMAZING – you must try them!) Approx 76p per burger
* Sticky chicken & bacon kebabs (from a 2009 BBC Good Food BBQ supplement) Approx 75p per kebab
* Crunchy feta & tomato salad (from a 2009 BBC Good Food BBQ supplement) £3.65 for the whole salad
Along with the ingredients for the recipes above we also bought cheese, bread rolls, ice creams, beer, diet coke etc etc.

Unfortunately being a #MorrisonsMum doesn’t necessarily guarantee sunshine but we struck lucky and it at least stayed dry for the afternoon!
We were big fans of Morrisons already but the new cheaper Morrisons means we’re even happier to be a Morrisons Family!
Ps I just have to share this for the comedy value . . .
*Disclaimer – Morrisons, in conjunction with Britmums, provided us with vouchers to do our Bank Holiday shopping and check out the new pricing however all thoughts and opinions are my own*
