Siblings – December 2016

The 15th of the month always brings with it a chance to pause and reflect on the relationship between my babies.  These three children who love each other to bits and would almost always choose to be in one another’s company.  There is always the fear with three, that one might be left out isn’t there but for now this isn’t the case in our house.  They are thick as thieves and long may it continue.

This week I had press tickets for Aladdin at The Epstein Theatre – but had only been able to get two.  Normally, in this instance, I would decline on the basis that it’s not really fair to only take one child and not the others but I’d decided that as Ben was going to the panto with school anyway it would be nice to give Chloe the opportunity too.  As it panned out I was able to get a third ticket at the last minute and take Ben along with us – rather than being disappointed that she had lost out on a bit of “one to one” time, Chloe was just really chuffed for Ben that he could come too.

All three children are super tired at the moment (as are their parents it has to be said) so tempers are frayed, patience is lacking.  Ben has been a little star with Amy over the last week and when we’ve been a bit late, he’s helped her to get dressed or find her shoes giving me time to sort other bits and pieces out.  He is the most awesome big brother to her and almost never loses his patience . . . unless she’s in his room messing with his LEGO then all bets are off.

And of course, being the end of the year, I can’t help but think about how my siblings have grown over this last year of Sibings posts – I usually post a collage of my favourite photos of the year but for some reason my laptop isn’t playing ball on that one this morning and I will have to try add one later.

Though not strictly from the start of the year, this photo from March remains a strong contender for the best photo I’ve ever taken of our little crew:

I’m so excited for what the next year will bring for these three and of course a little sad that they’re growing up so flipping fast!
