Siblings – January 2015

Last Updated on 25 January 2020 by Colette

It’s hard to get a photo of all three children together and even harder to get one where someone isn’t covered in food, crying or out of focus!

This year I’m joining in with Siblings – a monthly photo challenge to take a photo of them all together once a month.

I set about taking my first Sibling photo today and whilst I didn’t get quite the perfect capture I had hoped for I’ve got a number of pictures I want to share for my post this month.  (I realise this might be cheating a little but I couldn’t narrow it my choices down to just one as each picture demonstrates something about their relationship at this stage in time).

So the first photo is a complete set up – I wanted to photograph them all sat on the floor in the playroom (as the lighting is pretty good in there) and I knew I could get Amy to sit on Ben’s knee, I was hoping I might just get them all looking at the camera, a proper posed shot I guess.  A photo which captured their gorgeous faces.  Obviously this is quite tricky as whilst Ben and Chlo will follow instruction (to a point) Amy isn’t going to listen when I was her to sit still and look at the camera!  I took quite a few pictures but these are my favourites:

I’m not sure why Chloe felt the need to put her arms in the air but it made me laugh. In the second shot I had asked Ben to try and put Amy in the middle of them as I kept losing his face behind her head – as you can she was unimpressed and that was the end of our little session right there!

The next set of photos captures more of a moment – Amy is so close to walking but just doesn’t quite have the confidence yet.  Watching Ben and Chloe helping her to walk this morning was really special and gave me a little snapshot of the future. I  can just imagine them walking about with her in the park in the Spring when she’s really found her feet!

  1. Aww they're both such sweet sets of photos – I'm not surprised you couldn't choose, and they're absolutely no rule that says you have to anyway! I think my favourites are the ones of Amy walking, it's so lovely to see her big brother and sister being so caring of their baby. And a bit Welcome to Siblings too – it's a great project and I hope you'll love it as much as we all do 🙂

    • Thanks Carie, I'm really very excited to be joining in this year!
I love the walking ones too – such a precious moment. Since I took the picture last weekend she has really found her feet and walks without their help! x

  2. Welcome to Siblings! You've taken some lovely photographs here that really show how close they are. And I love how you dress them – Chloe's jumper and Amy's dungarees especially.

  3. Very cute pics. I like both sets. Lovely to capture their relationship together as well as their beautiful faces. We also share the problems trying to get them all to pose, but I guess that's half the fun, and will be nice to look back at this in a few years when they've mastered the photo sessions, and I bet you'll miss the excitement of never knowing what's coming next x

  7. It's so hard to take photos of multiple kids at once, I think you did a great job. And A's pigtails are just the cutest:)

  9. Oh I absolutely love these photos, and it's totally not cheating to share a load, I think you'll find most of struggle to narrow it down each month to less that 3 or 4. I love that in the first two you can really see their little personalities, but I adore those walking ones, thats what having a sibling is all about… having someone there to hold your hand.
So glad to have you joining in with us for Siblings this year, welcome! x

  12. Love the ones where they are holding hands, think you did a great job. I struggle to get mine looking at the camera at the same time and only have two to think about! x
