I don’t know about you, but I can’t quite get my head around it being the middle of January. It feels like the festive period didn’t really happen it – it was a surreal moment in a fairly miserable month – and now, being back in Lockdown, I don’t really feel like it’s a new year at all!
Often I take photos of the kids together specifically with this monthly siblings post in mind, however this month I forgot completely. Nonetheless, thanks to winter lockdown life meaning that all we can really do is go for walks, I’ve actually got a handful of photos that just nicely sum up this last month for the three of them.
Through the second half of the Christmas holidays, we were basically getting up and out early doors to drive to somewhere pretty and walk for a couple of hours before coming home, donning our pjs and lying on the sofa for the rest of the day.
As has always been the case, Ben, Chloe and Amy get on far better when we’re out and about than they do at home – at home they bicker about Minecraft incessantly, argue about whose turn it is to choose what they watch on TV and generally make a lot of noise! Out on a walk, they chat and play, they climb, they help each other out and even hold hands at times. My favourite moment on one of our Christmas walks was when Ben was giving Amy full on science lessons – over the course of the four mile walk I heard him teaching her about erosion, evolution, how the eye sees, and solids, liquids and gases!
Of course January and a new national lockdown has meant that things have changed again – this time the kids are in and out of school depending on Dave and I being at work – which in many ways is a blessing as it gives them a break from one another and an opportunity to be out of the house.
When it comes to writing our February update, it seems likely we will still be in Lockdown and reaching the initial end date for the school closures, but I’m not going to be holding my breath for any major changes at that stage! We shall see.
