Having just come home from a very cold, wet and blustery school run, I’m struggling to get my head around the fact that it’s actually the middle of March. A picture popped up on my facebook memories this week of a tree filled with blossom near our house . . . that tree is definitely not filled with blossom this week! Where is the sunshine?
I rather feel that my March Siblings photos should be filled with daffodils and tulips and all things spring, when in reality the only photos I have of all three children together this month were taken on their very first snow day. We had ventured out with the sledge to collect Ben’s welly (yes singular) that he had managed to leave at childcare the night before.
After an intentionally quiet start to the year, life has kicked up a gear as we moved into March – we’re now hurtling headlong into summer with weekends packed full of birthdays, anniversaries and prep for my best friend’s wedding (which is even more exciting now that the kids know they have special roles to play!)
Being so busy and out of the house more means there’s generally less time for bickering. All three kids are getting on really well at the moment and their favourite thing to do is disappear upstairs to play “the game”. I have no idea what this game entails but I love hearing snippets of their discussions about what will happen next in their game. Seeing them play imaginatively together is a joy. (And I love that it seems to happen upstairs too as it’s quieter!!)
LEGO has also been a unifying force over the last month – although Ben has had a heavy LEGO addiction for the past four years, the girls are only just starting to see the appeal, particularly now that Amy can join in too. On a number of occasions I’ve found them playing LEGO on Amy’s bedroom floor together.
I’m really looking forward to the Easter holidays now – particularly as Dave has a week off with us giving us plenty of scope for adventures!
